If anyone is into playing chess then which is your favourite chess program?
Mine are
1. fritz 9
2. chessmaster 10
3. Ruffian

Back in the days when I was playing Chess I used the online sites as it's boring playing against a computer. Use to go to pogo.com and yahoo.com

Kind of prefer playing Chess online rather than my friends...because if you lose you don't have to face the embarrassment of being laughed at in the face!

i usually play chess on YAHOO GAMES, the one reason is that you have lot of compititors there and from different countries and then the 2nd reason is there are many tough compititors too, and i like challenges very much.

I was so good at speed chess, I could finish people off in 1 minute. :) Longer form of the game I made quite a few errors.

i usually likes to chat with lot of peoples online that why i dont like speedy games, jut 10 min move game or like that, cuz peoples always buzz u when u r using yahoo messenger.

Yea I have that problem on MSN, but haven't played Chess for ages now so I've been able to focus on chatting and posting on here :p

If one seriously likes to play chess and at the same time improve his game then these programs are the the right solution as with each lost game one definitely learns something and that improves his/her game in the longer run.
If one does not like loosing then also these programs have different handicap levels and they do save the internet hours.
There are a lots of freeware programs available.

I used to play chessmaster 8 and 9. They were very good! But i play chess at yahoo most of the time...(for about 4 years now).

They have changed yahoo chess, looks quite good.

I'll have to check out Yahoo's one some day. Have you ever tried pogo? It's got a really smooth program compared with the Yahoo I was playing on.

Pogo has nice visual appeal but for online play I prefer yahoo just due to the vast number of opponents you get to play there.
Though there are news of a lot of cheating on yahoo chess!

That's true, you could find a range of opponents but if you played in pogo enough you would see they were basically the same group of opponents.

Well, my pc is a bit old configuration and takes more time to load pogo than yahoo so personally I prefer yahoo.
