FTP: From the Pavilion general chat

Love some of the commentary though:

An expectant father rang the hospital to see how his wife was getting on. By mistake he was connected to the Lord's cricket ground. "How's it going?" he asked. "Fine," came the answer, "We've got three out and hope to have the rest out before lunch. The last one was a duck." Dot ball.

Well opposition now at 110/3 of 20. My RM opening bowler doing superbly. Current figures of 3/18 off 6 overs. I'm fully expecting the run rate to climb in the closing stages of the innings. C'mon.....

Their wicketkeeper is 88 off 73, but that's still not fast enough :)

I've got my match in the bag.

They looked favourite to win the match.

A. Rathiea 11 (11b) , I. Chandrasekhar 75 (48b) , A. Cush 3-0-28-0

Kumble bowled a good over.
End of over 18 (5 runs) - Greatest(159-4). 29 runs required from 2 overs. RR 8.83 RRR 14.50
E. Chander 0 (1b) , I. Chandrasekhar 80 (52b) , A. Kumble 3-0-34-1

And collapsed...

D. Kusagra 4 (1b) , I. Chandrasekhar 81 (53b) , A. Cush 4-0-37-2

But win in nail-bitter over.

A. Junanker 3 (1b) , D. Kusagra 12 (5b) , A. Kumble 4-0-46-1
Saurashtra Lions won by 7 runs

Iridium XI won by 1 run

RAJNIKANTH v Iridium XI - From the Pavilion - Scorecard

Happy with a win in my first Youth match (even though it says I've won 1, lost 1 in the league standings). Standout player was my captain, Henry Smith. Scored 66 from 46 balls and took 3/33 from 8 and a runout. Accidently included 3 spinners in my bowling attack which probably allowed RAJ to claw the game back and it as close as it did. He needed 10 off the last over but managed to get 2 runouts and concede only 8 runs. Too close for my liking but a win is a win. I'll take that any day.

Yea, slowly getting the hang of it. We got our friendly match coming up. I've been busy past couple of days so haven't even had much of a chance to look around the TM and buy me some players. I'll do that tonight if I get the chance.

Pulled off a good win in my Youth match. Bowled first, they scored 231/6 from their 40 overs, Reshmi 2/57 (8), Murubi 2/60 (8) while Habeebullaah took 1/36 from his 8 and Whiteman also kept it tight with 1/39. We easily took the match with Murch opening scored 75 off 62, Mohammad my #3 scoring 76* (75) and Young finished off the innings again with 47* off 50, winning by 8 wickets with 7 overs to spare. And it was against the team who beat the league favourites last match so I guess that makes us favourites to win the league then. I'm in second place atm with first having beaten last place and 5th and has a better NRR than me so I'm not too worried. I play the third place team who has 1/2 as only me and the top place team have won both their games.

I struggle in youth games.

@ Iridium I'm not going to play my first XI against you, I'm just going to try out players :)

Beaten heavily. Played 40 overs still not score half runs of opponent.
It's hard because I am in 1.1 Youth India division.

:laugh That's good news. You'll probably still win. Look forward to it.

I reckon someone should start a story based on how they go on FTP. Could be interesting.

My youth squad is pretty good. I have one U19 International.

I have one reliable 19 yo batsman with capable technique.
I only have one capable 19yo batsman who only has average technique.
I have 3 reasonable batsman with reasonable, capable and ordinary technique, 2 19 yo and 1 18yo who is the one with reasonable technique.

I have a reliable/capable wrist spinner (The U19 INT) and a reliable/average fast bowler and then a reliable/capable finger spinner who has ordinary batting.
Then I have 2 reasonable medium pace bowlers.

I did have one in which I even had a series with wanderers. Go give it a search in the story forums and you'll find it. I know I did one on another forum (Yudi's one) about Kalhana Priyanka's season but didn't get very far at all.

I have an all-rounder who is average/average/average for batting, bowling and technique, and one guy who is reasonable bat, but crap at everything else, and apart from them no one decent in my youth side.

That's pretty much my youth squad :p .

It's been close games for me so far this season. I won by 1 run in the first T20 of the season, lost by 2 runs in the second T20 and won by 1 wicket today in my Youth match.
