FTP: From the Pavilion general chat

No, putting Sachin's/Dhoni's(:noway) face on adboards in India is the best advertisement.

Then, it's me and underwear commercials. But that's another story.

I am considering selling my former West indies nat. He has just popped so may as well.

hit 84k ratings in my last friendly. Not bad considering I have a large bank balance too.

Zorax announces Mid-Season Press Release!

Zorax has announced an upcoming Mid-Season press release, where he will talk about the
team's performance so far, their expectations for the rest of the season, and even possibly about some players leaving the squad!

The Blind Society have had a mixed season so far. They are currently unbeaten in SOD and T20 games, and are second in the YOD with just one loss, marking an impressive season in Division 1 to date. However, they were knocked out of the Cup in Round 4, and have been dismal in the Champions League with 4 losses in as many games.

Zorax has urged all fans to send in their questions, as the announcement will feature a Question and Answer session. Fans are urged to write in their questions to Zorax via mail, or be present in the crowd at that day to ask some questions of their own.

The press release is expected to be in 11 days, right after the 7th OD game of the season.

No one has any questions for me?

Anyways, some new features!

This week has seen the rollout of two new game updates. Highlights include:

1. Match Engine: Farming the strike
When a senior batsman is batting with a tailender, he will now often attempt to protect the tailender's wicket by farming the strike. This feature is initially implemented in friendly matches only.

2. Match Engine: Those pesky tailenders!
Batsmen with high technique relative to their batting skill (ie tech a few levels higher than batting) will receive less benefit from their 'surplus technique', and will be _slightly_ easier to dismiss.

3. Match Engine: Runouts
Runouts will be more likely to occur towards the end of an innings (eg as we get closer to the 50 over mark in a senior one day match, or the 20 over mark in a Twenty20 match).

4. Allrounder training changes
Batting and bowling will traing slightly faster for players on allrounder training. Technique will train slightly slower.

5. Challenges
Managers can challenge other teams at the challenged team's home ground. Matches will begin at the default starting time for the home team.

6. New Feature: Reveal player skills
By default, other managers cannot see the skills of players from your team unless you have listed them on the transfer market. You now have the option of making your player skills visible to everyone via the 'Reveal Skills' button on the player details page.

I am being to get into FTP. Still sticking to a more long-term strategy though. Basically save up while investing heavily into the academies until I become more committed. Got 2.6million now and I don't think My team is awful, either.

Lots of transfers this week. One or two more incoming still.

I'll post the sum total when I have finished my spending.

They are pretty much all projects but Selling one player to fund a replacement (collingwood, only 1/3 of the price Healy isn't far behind, either) and a few other players who will be good in a season or two time is good business. I am going to sell one of m y better batsmen as he is 28 and bring in a similarly skilled 20 or so Y/o may have to pay a bit more than I bring in for him, though.

All this and I will still have 1.9million or so in the bank.

I've recently started to get into FTP (had a team since season 1 but never really played).

I just wanted some tips on what skill level is good enough to play etc and how low should it be before I fire or sell. I have worked out some training and have decided to place players on the market if they are outweighing in one skill eg: high power but low batting.

So what should be the first things I do?

Well my main priority is to get a young side. I aim to, by the end of this season. have my first team down to 21 or under. Got 6 players to shift/replace from a squad of 15. But I have a fair few 19 year olds who are not far off being as good now.

I brought in this guy for 269k today. Almost as good as freeland.

The last one is nice.

I've got a really young side as it is, so I'm refraining from buying anyone. My oldest player is John Sandri, and check him out, he's amazing.

I hit 100K ratings recently too, in a SOD :) Got 102K, my highest ratings prior to that was 99K in a friendly.

ZoraxDoom added 4 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

Set training for all your players. Your team has been around a while, so get rid of all players Poor and Below. Keep a squad with room for improvement.

Then try and see what your best XI is, balance your budget and investments and try not to lose too much money per week, and then play a few games and see where you can improve. And oh, read the rules.

Well I sold a lot of my more lucrative assets. I still have 1.7million in the bank. Spending isn't finished yet, either but I will only spend 300k more max.

I have 23 in my youth squad atm, so no more youth purchases this season. May have to sell depending on youths I get. (16 Yo average bat with decent talents today. Seam speciality and skilled technique)

Got 3 older players on the list. Won't get 100k for the three of them but Once they have disappeared I Will bring in replacements. Need a capable+ bat, really.

Despite all this faffing around I could well gain promotion in all of my leagues. Probably only manage it in one, though.

As for ratings I will find out tomorrow when I go at full strength.

I've got about 600K, but I'm earning a nice profit every week. I dunnow if I'll buy anyone at the start of next season. Maybe a good batsman at max.

:p It happens. Remember my situation in BT? 4 Superb+ bowlers, and only 1 Strong bat...

I took a nice look of my squad. 5 Reliable+ bowlers aged 19 and under. The rest (11) are all Capable. Then there are 3 Reliable+ bats, and some more Capables. Lot of my players are in a Cap/Cap, Reli/Reli mode, where primary=tech. Quite nice :) And quite a few of them have played International cricket too.

So for every player in the squad. That will lower training effiency though.

Also my best bat (by batting/power/technique) is in my youth squad who is 19. Should I keep him in my youth squad or should I promote him.

Plus how do I promote a player?
