FTP: From the Pavilion general chat

I've got only 12 youths too :D And they suck.

23 senior squad players. 11 for sale if I'm not mistaken.

2 20 year olds for sale. two of my main bats who promoted me to 1.1 in the youths last season, going cheap.

Jdeus, do you want to setup the league?

BTW how do you guys make money in this game? Only way I see is buying cheap players, training them up and selling them. Kinda of the reason why my wages are at 140k a week, need to offload some players.

@hedger: I see you didn't get him. I had no idea he was so popular, he sold for 1.5 m. Bad luck mate.

I have 12 youths and I can guarantee they are all worse than all of your youths.

@aussie: That certainly is not the only way. Sponsorship, gates and prizemoney always play a big role, plus if you invest less in academies you will be losing less per week.

But that's the beauty of not having a youth team like me. You lose very little since your youth wages are covered by youth prizemoney, youth transfer fees and youth gates. I even get a small profit which is always nice.

If someone tells me how to then I will.

And the thing is I dont make money lol. I end up having only my previous seasons prize money as my bank balance and any deadwood I can sell off (ie players turned 20 or players who no longer make the grade for the first 11)

The real trick is keeping the wages down. Mines up over 100k and I only have 13 seniors and 18 youth so not much to play with there.

That's pretty much me. My senior and youth squads are usually maxed out. Senior squad is over the limit due to the 19yo turning 20. Almost at the stage where I can sell my senior guys and make a nice profit.

I'm going to sign up. What should I do first?

(I'm bored and it's the holidays)

You should sign up first :p

Then start buying cheap players off the market who have like Reasonable-Reliable primaries and similar technique with alright endurance I guess.

Ok I've signed up, waiting to be assigned a team at the moment.

I've got a team now :) Is it worth upgrading things like the academies or should I just go and find some good players?

Try and keep your academy atleast around inadequate or reasonable.

Just invest a bit in your academies, don't overdo it. Try and do as hedger says also, but again, don't buy players for too much at this stage.

Make sure you pull a youth every week as well, just go to the "Academies" page and it's on the right.

And most important of all, read the game rules and refer to them when you need.

Well I never put money in the academies at the start but I started to after about 2 seasons so just let it drop to save you money and it doesn't make too big a difference, especially if you are just buying players. Just go to the transfer market and sign anybody cheap that's better than your current team's players and then just fire all the dead wood on your team.

Look for probably Capable primary (Batting/Bowling), Reasonable Technique, Average+ Endurance, Ordinary Fielding, Ordinary Power. The Fielding and Power don't matter too much but it's worth getting a few players with good secondaries. Don't worry about power with spinners though.
