game suggestion?

Bioshock is an excellent game - I still haven't played the 'save all the little sisters' option yet (no spoilers, please). By the way, if you haven't got Oblivion either (another great game), consider yourself very lucky:

What an absolute bargain!

I've just started playing Fable and it looks like being an amazing game. Cheap now as well and should run on older PCs.

Total War series - if you like strategy, especially historical strategy, you can't go wrong with them. If you get Medieval II and its expansion Kingdoms, there is an excellent mod available that basically transforms the game into The Battle for Middle Earth but with proper epic battles, not those pathetic skirmishes in the EA games.

Republic Commandos: I love this game, it is one of the best squad shooters I've ever played. Online isn't the world's best, but it's not bad for a quick blast. (If you want this game, get it in the Best of PC Bundle, because then you get RC, as well as Knights of The Old Republic, Jedi Knight - Outcast, Battlefront and Empire At War, as well as a trial for Star Wars Galaxies, so you get five games for ?15 from here):

why big no to GTA IV PC,just only for the crappy port:eek:.man it has a damn good gameplay.
but if he like to play online, then i will advise him to buy Orange box,i simply the great game package ever made:happy

Didn't the patch they released fix many of the port's issues? Agreed about the Orange Box:

Half Life 2 - Very good, but

Half Life 2 Episodes One and Two - really kicked it up a gear, especially Ep 2; one of the most intense FPS games I've ever experienced. It is simpy amazing.

Team Fortress 2 - Super fun online game

Portal - Haven't played it yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Speaking of Valve: Left 4 Dead. Not much cop singleplayer, but superb multiplayer.

CoD series (all of them, even the older ones are still worth playing)

And of course, you need a football game, don't you? ;) PES 6 for me is the best football game I've played on PC (although watch this space for Fifa 10 PC, some EA forum members have played an early build and said it is a huge improvement over Fifa 09).

Streetfighter IV?

And yes, keep an eye out for Ashes 2009, going by the guys' previews, it is set to overtake BLIC '99 as the best cricket game ever.

In fact, there are quite a few older games around that have hardly dated at all (such as Quake 4) that you can pick up for about ?6! Have a good look round, there are bargains aplenty out there right now.

There you go, they should keep you busy!

Huge system requirements as well as graphics card compatibility issues and yet terrible performance and pretty average graphical quality anyway. It also comes with copy protection crap that routinely creates hassles for legitimate users.

If we're talking about actually buying the game, it's not like you get a discount for the game being half-baked. Sometimes a game just isn't worth it.

You do if you get it from here:

When you say 'huge system requirements', are you talking about with details on high? Because Medium suits me fine. And why is there no demo??

So, the patch didn't help at all?

wow didn't expect so many people to reply to this thread haha
thanks heaps guys, gives me a bit to think about
my friends have also recommended fallout 3, so i'll prob go with that.
hanging out for the new FM haha. the latest one i have is 07. is 09 worth getting or should i hold out for the new one?

09 is good, don't know what they've got planned for 10, probably have to wait another 4 months for it. I do have a spare FM09, I could send it to you, you'd have to unlock it and all that jizz as it's been used before. Have a look at the SI/FM site on how to unlock it.

*Wonders how much it might cost, hmm, PC expense? :D

I don't know, maybe time-limit it? Just a short demo to see how cars handle, what the gunplay is like and how well it runs on your machine.
