simplyCricket.net is delighted to announce that we have secured a 'Question & Answers' session with the head coach of Coaching Cricket Excellence, Peter Wellings.

Peter has played professional cricket for Middlesex and in more recent years for the likes of Minor Counties U25 XI, Middlesex Cricket Board and Middlesex League representative side, and has also represented the England Amateur XI on eight occasions.

After retiring from First Class Cricket, he set up 'Coaching Cricket Excellence' with the aim of providing top quality coaching to both children and adults of all ages and abilities. Peter is now an ECB Level III coach and is still heavily involved with youth cricket at Ealing CC where he is Head Coach of the Ealing CC Academy.

So sign up (if you haven?t already) and help us out by supplying a question for Peter to get his teeth into!

It could be anything from what it?s like to be a professional cricketer, how to get through pre-season training or questions on batting, bowling and fielding. Whatever your query is, throw it at Peter and see if you can beat him for pace!

Peter's coaching company can be found at www.coachingcricketexcellence.co.uk, if you need any further ideas!

We need your questions to ask him, it can be anything to do with the game and hopefully we can all improve your game . Post your questions on the site if possible but if you have any major objections feel free to post them in this thread.

Ive had clearance from the men at the top of this site to post this thread so dont have a go at me :p.

I'm confident that if I wanted to ask a question, I could find a better coach to ask, I'm also confident that if I wanted to know what it was like to be a professional cricketer, I once again could find a better person to ask.

Could you give us names and contact details of these better people to answer questions?

Far be it for me to tell you how to run a site, but shouldn't you keep things like this exclusive to simple cricket so that more people will visit there rather than just using PlanetCricket as a feeding grounds because you can't find enough members?

Just because someone hasn't played test level cricket it doesn't mean that they don't know the game inside out. There aren't that many Level 3 coaches around as the qualification takes a fair while to obtain.

I'm sorry that it doesn't meet your high standards - perhaps you'd like to share your wonderful contacts with one and all?

Far from trying to leech from Planet Cricket it is simply giving members a chance to ask questions to someone who has been heavily involved in the game for nigh on 15 years. Personally, I'm against advertising here and apart from one thread and some stuff in sigs we leave Planet Cricket (and all other cricket sites) well alone - this is not about getting PC members to join.

As duded said, we aren't asking you to sign up or even visit the site, just giving you all an opportunity to be included in something which some may find beneficial.

Well every Cricketer who has ever played a first class season qualifies on the player front. I'm sure we all know at least 5 players who play in your local league who have done that.

On the coaching front, there are plenty of people who make level 3. My mate is well on his way at the age of 20.

This isn't some secret society, if you're involved in the cricket community you should be able to think of plenty of examples, who are accessible if you make the effort.

Introductory course takes about 2 weeks normally. Level one takes 2 weeks with an assessment for one week. Level two takes about 4 weeks with 20 hours or so of coaching involved as well. Level three can also be completed in a year. So that's what, 3 years to get there from scratch? Hardly unachievable is it?

Where did I say that it was unachievable? You seem to fail to grasp the notion that whilst it's entirely possible for any Tom, Dick or Harry to obtain the grade few go that fair due to a lack of interest, time or support.

That's what you said, hence me pointing out how long it takes. There are plenty of people around who are at that level as I have already pointed out. So rather than getting on your high horse because you thought I was some no nothing kid, I suggest you just retreat from insulting me any further.

Now that I've had some sleep I'll form a correct response to you.

We are not bragging about the fact that the chap is a level 3 coach nor that he has played professional cricket. It is highlighted merely to show his credentials and that he's not some 2-bit joker. Yes, most of us know people with a qualification here or there who who played cricket to this or that standard. We are offering the chance to questions someone with a solid knowledge of the game built up over a number of years.

Secondly, we are fully aware of the abundance of coaches out thereat all levels but that is mainly in this country. Hopefully, you do realise that this site (and ours) is visited by folk from outside England. I can't speak for Australia but I'm willing to bet that in other countries access to coaches with recognisable skills isn't as widespread as in the UK. For that reason alone, what we're doing is worthwhile, as if we can help someone derive more enjoyment out of the game then everyone wins.
