I disagree with several of those, Clarke, Bell, Inzamam, probably Collingwood.

I think at the moment his skill level is higher, whilst over the course of their careers Inzamam has obviously had more games and therefore done more.

Not the first time I've seen an Australian underrate Inzamam. Probably comes down to the fact that he hasn't done much against Australia, but if you look at Inzamam's career stats, I think you'll agree that its ridiculous to compare Hodge (20 internationals) with Inzamam (496 internationals) and actually call the former Inzi's better.

It's just an opinion, I've really only seen him properly against Australia and I think he's slipped in recent times. That said, I wouldn't compare them myself anyway because they are at different stages of their career, but I have seen Hodge's technique for Victoria a lot and I think it looks better than what I have seen of Inzamam. Don't knwo who's betetr overall though I guess.

I would definately have Inzi over Hodge. Not because of technique because imo Inzi's technique is crap :p. But Inzi has done great things over his career and I don't think Hodge could match those sort of heights even with a full international career, although he may come close.

If I can only pick Hodge or Inzi, I wouldn't hesitate to take Hodge over Inzi, Hodge is an exceptional fielder and can run. I appreciate Inzi for what he has done, but he's the second most run out batsman in ODI history, plus he's 37 and retired.

Also, it's nice how someone made an obviously exaggerated statement, which was mocked and then replied to with comparably hyperbolic claims. I mean, if I tried to make a list of top batsmen, I would rule out any with a first class average under 30. One can disect Ganguly, Clarke or Fleming without much effort. Hell, if Clarkey is making these lists easily then we have a problem. Of course, an objective comparison can't be made without Hodge looking like potentially one of the top batsmen in the world, so it's important that international experience is considered an overwhelming factor, I guess.

Still, for all his lack of international appearances, Hodge is regarded by several commentators to be the best T20 batsman in the world. With T20I championships looming this year and in future, who would you name as the best players at that format?

To be fair, I was struggling after NO. 15 but I think Bell and Inzamam are definitely better

he's a quality player, but he's not world class,he's in the same bracket as the likes of colllingwood, rudolph, clarke, laxman -very good batsmen but not world class

Jayasuriya
Jayawardene
Sangakarra
hussey

Hayden
Clarke
Symonds

Dravid
Ganguly
Fleming
Gayle
Kallis

Gibbs
Smith

LOL the one bolded would not make the vics team.

I think Brad Hodge is a fantastic player.

To compare him to the greats such as Inzi is a crime. Inzi has done so much in his career because he was good to go for every game. Brad Hodge has only appeared lately in the Test arena because of retirements and people being rested due to age.

He's a very "Ponting," type player, he plays the same mental role if you watch him. He's bloodly clever as well, he knows when to hit out and not spoil an innings. Plus he is a very handy part-time offspinner.

I'm with Will, there are far better players in International cricket than Brad Hodge. I'll attempt my own list:

1. Kevin Pietersen
2. Mohammed Yousuf
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Mahela Jayawardene
5. Sachin Tendulkar
6. Sourav Ganguly
7. Rahul Dravid
8. VVS Laxman
9. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
10. Stephen Fleming
11. Michael Vaughan
12. Ian Bell
13. Paul Collingwood
14. Inzamam Ul-Haq
15. Ricky Ponting
16. Andrew Symonds
17. Matthew Hayden
18. Michael Hussey
19. Michael Clarke
20. David Hussey
21. Graeme Smith
22. Jaques Kallis
23. Herschelle Gibbs
24. Adam Gilchrist
25. Brian Lara

As far as I'm concerned I'd rather have any of those 25 players in my team instead of Brad Hodge. He's a good player, but he's not really done anything that's really lit up the international scene. He may average 58 in the few tests he's had, but he struggled at home against West Indies, and did pretty well against South Africa, his lack of tests must surely prove that he's not that great if he's failed to break into the Aussie Team. His ODi average is just that, average. His high score came against Netherlands, so that doesn't count, He really struggles against Sri Lanka, is poor against England, and terrible against India. He's not as good as everyone is making out; he's nowhere near the player that Inzamam was.
