How to stop several programmes becoming a group?

Is there some way you can stop several programmes of the same type joining together to become a group?

You could change your resolution and fit more on the screen but I don't don't how to stop programs grouping. You could also try hiding more of the items in the system tray.

Right click on your taskbar, choose properties, then un-tick "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons"
