hows this for a realistic game vs. AI

How is it realistic? England actually managed to win a ODI. HAHA!

urgh ... you're kinda missing my point here ... of course tailenders can save a game ... and every "batsman" is capable of beating their best score from time to time.

This particular game was classed as realistic ... however, in order to make it so, we had to edit the game so everyone is worse than they should be. We shouldn't need to do that if this game had been designed properly!

I merely picked up on Jimmy Andersons score as an example to disprove the theory that this game was capable or producing realistic games. In it's purest form, it isn't.

I am also willing to bet that whilst playing this game, the player was extremely annoyed at not being able to leave the ball without a batsman losing confidence or the keeper taking the bails off all the time, or the many many appeals for run outs when the batsman are clearly in or the ball appearing to go through a batsman to hit the stumps ... yadda yadda yadda.

However, if this kind of game makes you happy then good for you. I, on the other hand, am not willing to accept this game ... it is simply not good enough and to me, seems to have take a step back compared to previous versions of this game. This is what saddens me the most.

actually Big_Pete, you've missed the point completely. First of all, dropping the ridiculously high batting stats for the batsman isnt "daft", it was what was needed to begin with - its not that "everyone is made worse than they should be" rather they are made more realistic from the ridiculously high levels they were set at. Secondly, I am not trying to defend Codies here..they released crap, and all of us agree on that...my point is to salvage whatever we have instead of sitting and crying over it. If you don't want to use Tom/Colin's PlayerEditor to improve the gameplay, then that's your choice. (btw, in that case, I better hope you're going to return the game) Don't count on the patch since I am not sure what, if any, gameplay bugs are going to be fixed in it.

Personally, I'm relatively happy with the tweaks since, though far from perfect, it's the best option we got.

I understand :) No harm in making the best of a bad lot ... but, as a PS2 user, I can't do that!

I'm not relying on the patch as it's quite obvious to me that Codies won't re-issue the discs, so there's no way to get an updated version.

Also, as a PS2 user, I can't use any player editor or whatever is on offer ... if I had a PC that could cope with high end gaming, then i would investigate ... sadly, it's at least 4 years old and there's no way I'm upgrading just to play a game!

In terms of returning the game ... already done so (the Monday after it was released!) and thankfully got a full refund.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I am penalised for the games system I choose to play my games on

I understand mate..and I feel sorry for PS2 users since the original release was really crappy and there's not much that can be done..glad you got your refund :)

realistic you say?! And that's with jimmy Anderson getting 20 not out ... hmmm ! he averages under 7 in ODIs and has a highest score of 15!

Gillespie... 200...

Nice idea, but its pretty fudge packing bent when you have to place all these restrictions on yourself to get a good game.

they seem like alot but some of them are just basic and you don't even realise . but it is a bit annoying but as a ps2 owner its the best i can do without burning a new copy

of course it can be broken ... but we've all seen Jimmy Anderson bat ... he's rubbish!! It's pretty unlikely!

Plus ... i hate the fact that to make this game playable and realistic, we essentially have to edit it to make everyone worse than they should be. That's just daft ...
it is possible, did you see darren powell versus SA, he wacked 48 and i think his highest was like 6 before that.......so anythings possible :cheesy
