By 2014, the rankings are going to have India down in 9th with Bangladesh ahead of them and Dinesh Karthik as captain and opening the batting with Rohit Sharma ;)

DDK for the win!

Look at the bright side:

+ Potential dangerous seam attack with Ishant, RP and Sree coming up. There is Sangwan in the wings and Irfan and Munaf for back up.
+ Young batting talent in Kohli, Pujara, Pandey, Raina and Vijay.
+ Jadeja's spin is coming along well, we might end up having him as the second spinner with one of Ojha/Chawla/Mishra leading the spin attack
+ MS Dhoni and Gambhir look set to be two of the more dominating players for the next decade
+ Viru's in his peak, the next year or two should be fun at the very least.

Most of our wins are based on strong batting than strong bowling. Eventually to win test matches you have to take at least 16-20 wickets of opposition so our bowlers are bound to have good average in won matches.
Not abroad. It's our bowlers who have led us to our wins overseas--such as ZaK's inspired spell in England, Sree's in South Africa and RP's in England and Australia (although not as much since he got injured). Ishant has also looked a good prospect at times, especially in Aus, but hasn't got the numbers behind him.

I made this point already but I'll make it again. Our pace battery is not brilliant but it gets the job done overseas. The fact that we play the majority of our matches in the subcontinent on dead pitches results in them being dropped/losing form before they can show what they are made of on sporting pitches.

Even Irfan looked very dangerous in Australia. It's the conditions... they don't suit our quicks. Stick them in SA or Australia and they shine, as you would expect them to.

So the moral of the story is that we should play 3 spinners and 1 fast bowler at home---but only after we have unearthed 3 awesome spinners and converted all our pitches into dustbowls. :D

IF kiwis can create grass-beds then why are we hesitating:spy?? We should go for dustbowl. IT would be fun to watch Yuvi batting against murali on a dustbowl:p
