I wouldn't say I was special but... (Formation and Squad List in 1st Post)

The ads mate. I don't even know what team you are playing the damn game with! I'm guessing some lowly English team that you have ties to.

Oh, yeah, the ads. I don't know how long I can keep it up.

Yeah, the sides I'm facing are conference sides. You won't know any of them.

Stalemate as both teams fail to fire

It was a story of missed chances as Rushden and Diamonds drew a stalemate when they hosted Shrewsbury Town.
The game wouldn't be described as a classic but there were chances for both teams.

Shrewsbury's Dunfield came close after 10 minutes after a slick passing move but he rushed the shot and it flew over the bar.
Rushden's best chance of the game came after 20 minutes.
The ball was picked up 20 yards from goal by the in-form Andrew Burgess, who shifted the ball onto his right foot and let fly.
The ball just brushed the post.

Rushden would have hoped to make get a hold of the game after that chance but it was Shrewsbury who upped the tempo with Dunfield again coming close.
His long-range drive looked for all money to be heading in but rose at the last second and clipped the bar.

The best chance of the match came mid-way through the second half.
The ball fell to Gareth Partridge in the box. He had time but lent over and skied a brilliant opportunity.

The draw ends William Ako's perfect start as manager.
His side face Brighton next and will be looking for a solid performance to fill themselves with confidence heading into the new season.

Attendance: 518

Diamonds broken in last pre-season friendly

A brace from Jake Robinson and a goal from Calvin Andrew helped Brighton and Hove Albion cost past their hosts.
Rushden started brightly as Michael Rankine wasted a chance early on.
His clever interchange with Andrew Burgess only result in a skied effort.
However, it turned out to be Rushden's only real chance of the match as Brighton took complete control.

Dean Cox replied instantly but he couldn't convert his chance.
The goal did come after six minutes as Robinson broke through and capitalised on a defensive lapse to open the scoring.

The Rushden defense was also at fault for the second goal. Calvin Andrew ghosted past the centre backs to slot home a second.

William Ako made a hasty double change as a clearly fatigued Rob Wolleaston and Burgess made way for Sam Smith and the inexperienced Jack Durrant.
The move failed to change the flow of the game as Robinson had another chance.
He missed but rectified the matter a minute later as he found himself unmarked and bagged his second.

The second half was a constant barrage of Brighton pressure as Jarrett and Livermore came close. Keeper Dale Roberts was busy all match as Brighton racked up 8 shots on target.

This defeat is sure to make Ako rethink his strategy as the first match of the season looms.

Man of the match: Jake Robinson - 8.6
Worst Performance: Michael Corcoran - 4.7
Attendance: 493
