Poor running from Australia !![DOUBLEPOST=1560603992][/DOUBLEPOST]Anything below 335 SL will fancy their chances to win.

This should be Sri Lanka's game to lose now. At a stage even 350 looked possible. Some brilliant death bowling by them :clap

I have zero faith in this Lankan batting lineup to chase this down. And given how they whined about the pitch conditions a few days ago, I don’t think they are backing themselves to bat properly either.

They did beat India in CT'17. Just need a couple of big partnerships out there

Have to feel for Sos, batted superbly last year at the top of the order and they send him as a finisher. He just isn't that type of player, more of a touch player. Can't expect to play both Khawaja and Sos, one needs to bat 3, the other needs to sit out. I'd say give Shaun a go from now on because Khawaja hasn't done much so far this tournament.

Are the Afghanis on a mission to systematically remove their best white ball cricketers one at a time? Najibullah isn’t playing today’s game and what’s worse is that a thoroughly mediocre Asghar replaces him :facepalm

Langer calls him a very explosive player on the basis of him smashing a few BBL bowlers for runs aplenty in the death overs :lol

Agree with your assessment, Khawaja seems a totally different player at 3 where he doesn’t get his powerplay boundaries. This is why I really assumed that Finch would be ideal to bat at 3 but there is no point in messing with a player who seems to be in good form especially when he’s the captain and is extremely susceptible to wild swings in form too.

Mitch Marsh at 5 or 6 would do a world of good to this side, if only the management realized that Stoinis on current form and fitness isn’t worth having in the squad.

Is the pitch in the SL vs AUS match a flat one? If so, the Aussies are definitely around 30 runs short here. My only worry for the Lankans is their middle order batsmen being bang out of form and their inclusion of Kusal Mendis despite him being extremely poor in nearly every ODI game ever.

Have given up on Stoinis, had high hopes for a return to form at the start of the tournament but he is looked in horrible touch. I completely agree with Michael Clarke in saying that this lineup can chase 280 but not 350. Need a power hitter like Mitch Marsh in at 5-6 like you said. Bowling has looked very inconsistent this tournament as well. I'd open with Starc and Behrendorff with Cummins first change but besides the game against West Indies, Starc hasn't looked good. Lyon as the main spinner because Zampa takes wickets but it usually very expensive which they can't afford especially if they don't have the batting to defend it. I'd take 1-40 from Lyon than 2-75 from Zampa any day and the other 10 between Marsh and Maxwell. In my opinion, I have never rated Kane as part of the first XI.

Asghar was their best batsman. He was a really good leader too, but you are right.. AFghanis are on a mission to self destruct themselves since Najibullah could have easily played and Shahidi could have been dropped. I must say I am mightily disappointed with AFghanistan so far this WC. Even if they came close in Sri Lanka game, Sri Lanka just showed them why they are a world beaters. Poor management, poor execution. There is something wrong since the drop of Asghar as the captain.

So the talks are that the WC was started in June was because English tweaking Cricket Board did not want to mess their tweaking domestic competition. ECB first by reducing the number of teams and if this is true have tweaked the international cricketing arena. If this was BCCI there would be so much hoopla and hatred, I so tweaking wish BCCI gets back on its feet from its own internal crisis and gets back to owning the cricketing stage. A good businessmen will always protect its business no matter what and ECB is completely brainless. Giving your domestic competition a higher priority when compared to a WC is brainless decision.

India vs Pakistan will definitely be washed out. We already have rain falling in Afghanistan and South Africa match, well tweaking done ECB and ICC :clap. Although the crowds were not present in the 2007 WC, this has to be the worst WC of all times. I am not exaggerating but having 3 games already abandoned with West Indies and South Africa being a crucial match... 4th one on the loom for tomorrow and that match being the biggest seller for ICC.. might have one today.. in this day and age when Cricket is already struggling as a sport to make name for itself, when 50 over cricket is in a tough spot against T20 cricket.. ICC and ECB tweaked it up more and is not acceptable at all.

It was extremely flat with a hint of grass on the surface which is just to hold the pitch together. It's a graveyard for the bowlers !!!
