This is good for cricket lovers, especially Indian cricket lovers and we stand to gain if this goes through! Clashes like India vs Australia and India vs England are the ones eagerly anticipated and by including more of such clashes, cricket stands to gain and also the players!

Personally, I didnt like the fact that Australia would play India only in 2008 when their last clash was in 2004! 4 years is too long a wait for these two nations! India is the first team even before England who successively challenged Australia in two test series (a series win at home in 2001 followed by a drawn series in Australia in 2003!). England are following the same pattern by beating Australia at home in the recently concluded famous Ashes but are yet to face Australia in Australia (they will be in 2006!).

So clashes like this would be fantastic and would be followed immensely by nations all round the world! Let it happen!

It actually says that the Indian board is keen on altering the FTP (Future Tours programme) so that they get to play England and Australia on a more regular basis and thereby maximise their earning potential from these type of clashes! And since India is the top most nation for generating money from the game, the ICC it says are facing a threat from India on their already fixed FTP!

Thanks for changing that! I didnt know!

Id like to see England play India more often, we havent played you for 3 years and when you see how many times India and Pakistan have met in the past 3 years its quite strange.

Its not the cricket board that alone is behind this. Its the multi-million dollar sponsors like Sahara and Nike which are forcing the board to do this. By playing England or Australia which invoke a large audience only once in 4 years does not please the sponsors who have put more money into Team India than sponsors for a Soccer club in Brazil or England would do!!

If they do change/edit the FTP now, they might as well start an official Test Championship with a proper league table and regular number of matches in a 2 year cycle.
