ICC Takes A U Turn & approves 14-team format for Woorld Cup 2015

Poor decision. They had the right idea when they decided after the 2011 WC to reduce the 50 overs tournament to 10 teams and increase the T20 Cup to 16. Since that clearly is best way forward.

This decision shows indecisiveness and is just another example of the weak ICC governing body collapsing the little outcry from members it is suppose to have control over.

Lol you do not want BCCI to bully and at the same time you do not want every country to have equal rights World cup participation will create more support base. Who in NZ would have watched the football worldcup if their team was not drawing with the big guys..I did not even know they played football there.

I sort of agree 12 would have been better.

I hope this year they conduct the associate qualifying closer to the WC though. last one it was done about 2 and half years before and Kenya significantly dropped in level over that time, so did Canada. at the 2010 associate world cricket leagues afghanistan and scotland both out-performed those two.

it's harder for associates to maintain level, so maybe if we'd put the best 4 associates at the time in the WC we'd have got better matches. instead they put the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th in. where's the sense in that?

I guess 12 teams are perfect for a cricket WC unless minnows surprisingly start playing well.

Only Ireland and to some extent Afghanistan has some potential in the minnow teams, rest are all just way too easy for the stronger teams.

Yes, Afghanistan has good players like Shahpoor etc. But I think Netherlands and Ireland are best in the associate teams followed by Kenya and Afghanistan. Rest all are not worth it.

Yet another spineless decision by the ICC.

If you want to promote the game past the regular clique of 10 countries you need to open it up to more markets.

It would have been an easy format too:
4 groups of 4, with 2 top 8 countries per group.

Geez what is with the ICC having to cut the associates from one format. Could have just left the T20 WC as is, that after all is the best place to have the groups of 4 format.

i will love if Afghanistan,Ireland,Netherlands,Scotland Or Canada qualify
no Kenya,Bermuda and rest of associate will be good
