Indian Captaincy-Discuss

Kumble's negative captaincy was showen once again today since he pretty much let Clarke and Ponting get away early in the first session. With the ball spinning and two good spinnersn in the side, he should of had an aggressive field and tryed to take wickets.

Tell me,how many captains have you seen who have been aggresive against Australia.
Regd,Kumble,i think he has captained well enough.
Probably both teams know that the match is heading towards a draw ands that why they havent been attacking as much as they ought to have.

Regd, the ODI captain.KKD is a good choice considering that the selectors wanted a young face.
The other possibilities are Sehwag[maybe not] and Kaif[if he can worm his way back into the side].

You should be in the team first before you're even considered as being captain in my opinion.

Well firstly if you want to beat Australia you have to be aggressive and secondly with Australia looking for the draw to cannot just have men patrolling the boundary, India were the only ones who realistically were going to force a win and to do that they needed wickets and bowl out Australia before they got a lead. Ponting and Clarke were allowed to nurdle the bowling around and weren't put under any real pressure.

Well, that is the usual course of action.
I'll quote SA here.Smith wasnt assured of his positioni n the team when he was given the captaincy.

In India's case, you need a strong person with good leadership abilities.

P.S - I have changed the name of the thread as the topic was drifting away from the original one.

Smith was a settled SA player, it was just unexpected because they expected it to go to someone like Boucher etc.

Challenger Trophy, go watch it.

Raina was in full flow in that series as well. Even Patel was scoring.

Challenger is not international either.

Kaif is already a captain of state side. He has experience of international cricket more than Kartick. He is by far best Indian fielder at moment. He can bat well at number 6-7 where Kartick has struggled in ODIs. Definately a case for Kaif to be in instead of Kartick.

I dont know but this guy seems to have some approach or something cos he was playing as proper batsmen :crying in side 2 years ago.

That's not the point though, Karthik is far more a player than one that just guides it through thrid man, that's just a stupid thing to say. He's played Test cricket for India ffs. Bringing in Raina and Kaif to it is daft too.

I recommended CT, because he was doing far more than just guiding it through third man.

Scion Sid, if you belive Karthik is not a capable batsman or a capable player for India, please explain to me how he did so well in England and South Africa? He struggles at home, ala his low domestic average.

Don't just judge all your thoughts on one series (Pakistan).
