Host ask Indians to Bat First
(West Indies hoping to trouble the Indian batsman with some short deliveries)
Hello, and welcome to Jamaica for the second One Day International match between West Indies and India, live and exclusive on Sky Sports. After the first match been washed out by the heavy rain we expect a complete game of cricket today at the same venue. The Indians will be hoping to improve their batting after they had lost three early wicket for 50 odd runs before Dhoni and Rohit Sharma steadied the innings with their 65 odd runs partnership. For the Windies they would be hoping to continue the same form that got them some early wickets and try and trouble the Indian batsmen with some short deliveries.

Weather and Pitch Report

pitch.jpg

Weather Report:- The weather looks perfect today for a game of cricket. The sun is shining in sky and its hopefully to stay the same throught the day with cloud cover coming during the evening. There are no chances of any rain today.

Pitch Report:- The Pitch is completely different from the one that was used during the first game. This pitch looks completely opposite to the first one. It has a small patch of grass around length area which will help the faster bowlers.

There is some help for the spinners and that's why the two teams are expected to be going in this match with two specialist spinners. The outfield looks lightning fast and ball will race the boundary quickly as it passes the infield.

West Indies won the toss and elect to Bowl first.

Well, the news from the center is that, the West Indian skipper, Chris Gayle has won the toss and without any thinking to do he has decided to bowl first on a freindly bowling pitch. The Indian batsman would be having some thinking to do before they face the West Indies bowlers in the middle.

India:- No changes from the side that started against West Indies in the previous match which was abandoned due to heavy rains. Two new comers Abhishek Nayar and Badrinath retain there place in the side and Rohit Sharma will again be opening the batting with Gautam Gambhir.

As the two Indian openers Gambhir and Rohit Sharma maker their way to the field behind the two umpire and West Indies players we will slip in a short commercial but there is live action on other side of the break so stay tune to Sky Sports.

PS: From now I will be playing this on ICC 2009..:p

Indians restricted to 233 in 50 overs
(Badrinath scores 89 but West Indies bowlers bowl well.)

West Indies bowlers have restricted the Indians for a low 233 runs in 50 overs mainly thanks to some great bowling by fast bowler Fidel Edwards and allrounder Dwayne Bravo.

Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir who opened in the previous match which was washed away by some heavy rains opened again but unlike the last match they got of two a quick start hitting three boundaries in the first three overs. But Rohit Sharma who had played brilliantly in the last match was bowled by a brilliant yorker from Fidel Edwards for just 10 of 9 balls. In came skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and he like Sharma started of quickly scoring 3 boundaries before he was caught leg before by Fidel Edwards for 16 of 13 balls. Indians were 45 for the loss of 2 wickets after 7 overs when Yuvraj Singh arrived.

Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir both steadied the innings with some singles and boundaries but the West Indies bowler bowled an accurate line for the two left handers which made the runs very difficult to come by. Gambhir who hasn't been in great form of late looked like he was getting back to his best as he smashed Suliemann Benn for two consecutive boundaries in his first over. As the partnership started looking dangerous Dwayne Bravo who was given the ball instead of Fidel Edwards got the important breakthrough of Gautam Gambhir. The bouncer which had troubled the Indians for a long time did the job again and Gambhir gave an easy catch to fine leg fielder Benn. Gambhir made the long back to the pavilion scoring 46 of 62 balls.

Subramanium Badrinath who had a good season in the Indian Premier League with Chennai SuperKings came in when the Indians had lost 3 wickets for 86 runs on the boards. Indians were in trouble and the fans were expecting some heroics from the man in form this year Yuvraj Singh but he himself was struggling to score runs at ease today and he didn't last any longer. A couple of overs later Yuvraj Singh went for a cover drive of the bowling of Dwayne Bravo but instead edged it and gave a simple catch to keeper Denesh Ramdin. Yuvraj Singh departed for just 15 runs of 56 balls and Indians were in deep trouble when the Abhishek Nayar the allrounder from Mumbai made his way in the middle.

Badrinath and Nayar to some extend kept the scoreboard ticking by taking the ones and two and scoring some odd boundaries of Benn and Bravo before the later man got rid of his Mumbai Indians team mate fr just 8 runs. Nayar was surprised by a slow bouncer and gave a catch to Sarwan at midwicket. Indians were 126 with their half team back in the pavilion as the big hitting allrounder Yusuf Pathan came in. Subramanium Badrinath and Yusuf Pathan kept rotating the strike with the singles as the two spinners Suliemann Benn and Lionel Baker took control. But the batting duo launched the counter attack on the bowlers as they started scoring over 5 runs per over.

Subramium Badrinath who was playing a sensible innings soon reached his first ODI half century with delightful on drive for four of the bowling of Lionel Baker. Badrinath and Yusuf Pathan did their job of scoring runs and not giving away their wicket really well and helped the Indians past the 200 mark. As the Indians passed the 200 marked Badrinath changed his gear and started attacking the bowlers and in the process he smashed Suliemann Benn who was in his last over for two huge sixes over mid off and one over covers before being beaten by pace and bowled in the same over. Badrinath departed for a well played 89 runs which included 13 fours and 2 sixes.

Harbhajan Singh was the new man in and he got of the strike straight away to give the well settled Yusuf Pathan the strike for the last over of the innings. Jerome Taylor who had just gone for 34 runs in 9 overs conceded 14 runs of the last over which included 2 fours and 1 huge six over deep square leg from the bat of Yusuf Pathan. With that Yusuf Pathan stayed not out on 41 of 47 balls and the Indians ended the innings at 233 for the loss of 6 wickets.

West Indies need 234 runs in their 50 overs at the run rate of 4.6 runs per over. Can Gayle and company chase the target or will the Indian bowlers be able to stop them? Stay tuned to Sky Sports because after the break we have the live action of the 2nd innings

a very good total by india defendable. india will need to bowl well to win this

Well played Badrinath and a good cameo by Pathan. It is a competitive score but i think India are missing one more quality fast-bowler. Hopefully the spin can tangle the West INdies

Badrinath, played a great innings there along with the help of Yusuf Pathan, but i doubt this total will e defendable. You dont have a great bowling line up in Ishant and RP, I feel teh spinners will have a hug job and if they can get the first 4 wickets with 20 overs or less than 100 runs then you have a chance other wise Gayle and Bravo along with Sarwan and CHanderpaul will destroy you.

I loved the scoreboards, looks like the real SkySports one.
