hey graham1,

Please share your initial thoughts about the game with us man! Humble request from a guy still confused about whether to buy BLIC or C2K5. Graphics don't matter to me. Do let us know about the gameplay. Much appreciated.

i would agree this is the best cricket game.
I think its light years ahead of cricket 2004, where do you begin?
Have just bowled and it takes a bit of getting use to.
Harminson bowled a no ball for bowling above head height , the umpire gave the right signal , fielders pull the ball back from boundary then throw.
Not had a catch yet but computer has.
You have to hit x to catch i have seen fumbles ,drops , dive forwards, catches over the head ... i am sure there are others to see.

Batting is also very good there seems to be all the shots, i am looking forward to the test matches most .
Tried a cheeky run to the wicket keeper and he throw the stumps down.
going for another bat graham :D

Also been playing the demo tonight here are my thoughts.

As cricketfan said the layout of the menus is excellent and the loading times on are quite fast. When the game is loading up it will show you the main controls for batting, bowling and fielding. You can be either Aussies, England or Windies.

To the gameplay itself. First of all batting. If you have been playing cricket 2004 then this will take some getting used to. You have to time correct otherwise you will either miss the ball or mi**** it. In terms of shot there are a whole variety that you can play. X button plays a normal shot, Square button plays a defensive and circle plays a slog. You can move the batsman left and right, the batsman can be moved right up until the last moment. The level is county but still takes some getting used to. Average score that I have got is 35 of six overs.

Now to bowling. Again if you have played Cricket 2004 again this will take some getting used to. Basically you press the X button and the cursor appears, you position the cursor as your player is running in, then the power bar appears, this is when things get tricky, if you want to ball at top speed you need to stop the bar at the top, problem is if you mistime it you will ball a no ball. It is challenging but very worthwhile when you get it right. As swing, the ballers can swing it (by pressing L1 and R1), got a couple of my balls to nip back into the batsman which bambazoled him. Bowling is very challenging but rewarding if you get it right.

Fielding is awesome, you have to get the bar right in the middle otherwise the ball ballons out of your players hand way up into the air, but after a few games you will get used to this.

Best thing is that you can play 2 players, so have had some good matches with my brother.

Overall impressions are that the game is awesome, gameplay is superb and the presentation is outstanding. The TV replays are superb as is the commentry, the commentators started to talk about South Africa in their ICC ranking whilist I was playing against Australia which was awesome. Hawkeye is also very good as it works properly and you get the odd dodgy decision!!

Well done Codies and Swordfish for producing on this evidence a highly playable and entertaining game. Roll on 21st July!!

written by someone at the codemasters forum. Sounds great!

Graham,

Is there a bowling autoplay... I mean i like to bat in the game and seldom bowl. Will i be able to skip the bowling by autoplaying like in c2k4 in blic??

Thanks in advance.
