Why not, it's your game to choose...

It can be a hit or a miss
Either they can get out for single digits
Or they can go berzerk and get some 20-25 odd quick and then get out.
But you cant expect a 40+ from them. Rarely will it happen.

A small update on 'players with ambiguities' while allotting Special Abilities,
here is how I zero down on who is who. (Also some tips in the end, don't miss those):

In batting, if a player can potentially be sorted with more than 1 ability, then the batting position he bats in generally, will be used to determine his special ability, followed by his real life role.

Examples:

Hardik Pandya (same applies to likes of Andre Russell, David Miller, etc)

He can slog as well as finish the innings well. He can become a Slogger as well as a Finisher
Since he predominantly bats lower down the order, he will be given Finisher role rather than a Slogger
(Now if you make him open in a match that doesn't mean he will be changed to a Slogger,
he will still stay a Finisher and then it's own your risk to make him open)​

Virat Kohli

Again, he can be given Consistent Performer as well as Finisher, or even a Slogger at times.
But since he bats in the upper order, Finisher is out of the equation.
Then since he is more sort of a consistant performer in real than a Slogger, he will be allotted Consistent Performer Ability.​

Rohit Sharma

Again, Consistent Performer or Slogger, both apply
Will go with Slogger as that is what his role is predominantly as a T20 Opener.​

Jos Buttler (now here is some controversy)

If it were IPL 2017, I would have made Buttler a finisher, but since few years he has been promoted to opener, hence will be alloted Slogger.
Even if you play him at 6 or 7, which he actually does at time, still he will be considered as a Slogger. Period.​

Ajinkya Rahane

Will be alloted Consistent Performer and not Sheet Anchor, as it is T20 attributes and not Test attributes.

Sunil Narine

Pinch Hitter over Slogger, again obvious, even if I allot a slogger to him, it will not be that effective as his batting skills will be low.​

Now for the bowlers, if a player can potentially be sorted with more than 1 ability, the more dominant trait will determine his special ability, followed by his real life role.

Examples:

Pat Cummins

Bowls at the top, bowls at the death, however, if we see him, he is a predominantly a New Ball Specialist in every side he is a part of. So he won't get a Death Bowler ability, but a New Ball Specialist.​

Mohammad Shami

He will be allotted Good Variations over New Ball Specialist as he can be used in any phase of innings if need be.​

Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya,

Old Ball Specialist over Good Variations, I think its a bit obvious, they don't have that many variations.​

Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal

Good Variations over Mysterious Spinner, as the name suggests, their forte is variations in bowling.​

Imran Tahir, Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin

Vice versa of the previous example, they reply on their mystery spin pre-dominantly.​

Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, etc

Good variations over Mys. Spin simply because there is no mystery about their spin.​

Few Tips for Bowling:

• Death Bowlers 'might' bowl with the new ball but can't say same if New Ball Specialists bowl in the death.
• Don't even think to give the new ball to Old Ball Specialists.
• Good variations quicks can be brought during any part of the innings as they are known to adjust well.
• Good variations spinners can be used on most surfaces as they rely less on spin and more on their variations.
• Mys. spinners can work wonders on spin pitches but can have a bad day on batting and other types of pitches.

I hope this quick guide and tips will solve most of your queries.
Build your teams keeping all these in mind.
Try to find the perfect balance which tick all these boxes.

Also keep in mind the few underrated rules which people tend to miss,
You need to play the whole squad once,
You need atleast 1 uncapped in the playing 11,

You can have minimum squad of 18 and maximum of 20,
You can have maximum 7 overseas players only,
You need to have atleast 2 keepers in the squad.
You need to have atleast 3 uncapped players in the squad.

This was me being as informal and transparent and letting out things to you all so that you can understand the sim better.
