Hi, i am new to "planet-cricket".

Well, there is a tournament between all of us (my friends), and they suggest me a leather ball for the matches. But leather ball for kids, are my friends out of mind? Injuries would happen. Whereas, tennis ball is also not a ball with whom we could play cricket.

Any suggestions? Leather for us or tennis ball, or any other?

Tape ball if it's a one time mucking around tournament but a real cricket ball if you ever want to turn it into a proper league and play actual cricket.

Probably an Incrediball, it's what we use in New Zealand before a hard ball which we start using around 11/12 years old.

It's much more realistic compared with a tennis ball, but you don't need pads and stuff like you should with a hard ball.

Performs like a regular cricket ball but the soft polyurethane core disperses impact pressure and is less likely to cause injury. Recommended for teaching the fundamentals of cricket and encourages participation at junior level.

I don't know if you can buy them in your location of "Everywhere" though...

Probably an Incrediball,

those things do hurt a bit and they swing heaps which makes it even harder to hit the ball.

those backyard cricket balls are good they bounce the same as a hard ball but you do have to wear a box though.

Leather ball hurts, tennis ball doesn't.. Leather ball is for real cricket, tennis ball is for kids+normal cricket... So i think for a normal tournament, tennis ball would work. The only thing bad with a leather ball is that if it hits someone, it hurts like hell. We can't take the risk. So i think tennis would be alright?

Agree or not?
Asking because "Planet-cricket" members always take right decision, hats off to them.......... Including me :p

You're just soft. :p

I actually haven't played with one in ages, I just use a hard ball without pads now when we're mucking around, or a tennis ball in backyard as we lose like five a game.

Kids don't tend to bowl that quick, but it's not just the bodies with a leather ball, the bats and the surface also have to be up to it. I think the operative term is "controlled conditions". If you're having ad hoc games, it's best with experienced players who each have club-quality gear. Plus, if you use a cheap practice ball, it might do damage even to good bats.

You only use a hard ball?

If I'm playing in an open area, I'll use a hard ball without any gear, or course not pace bowling, just spin.

Or course if I'm playing in the backyard, I'm normally not likely to be hitting around a hard ball, unless I'm just blocking or something.
