Is there any way to counter AI playing backfoot shots even on yorkers?

They don't annoy me to be honest. It doesn't affect scores/gameplay. It's just aesthetics. If the computer were unable to play any yorker for runs I would be much more annoyed as this would be a game breaker.

Is the patch on the way? I still have not received my copy from UK as yet, enjoying myself with some fine players online on AC2009.

The AI does score runs of yorkers by playing leg glance, cover drive by moving towards leg side etc. I've actually seen AI late cut a outside off yorker for 4. This is alright. But to play backfoot cut for six over 3rd man is Very Very annoying.

You just got to let it go man, take it on the chin - I know it hurts, but in the long run youll be ok. Move on :D

Well AI should be able to score off yorkers but it should be ones or twos down the ground, an occasional shot towards cover point by making room or maybe even a few french/chinese cuts to the boundaries. But to play hooks, pulls and cuts to full length & yorker deliveries takes a lot away from gameplay IMO.

And I hear you when I say that if AI doesn't score off yorkers, folks will simply bowl yorkers and it would be frustrating to see AI not score. I think to address the problem Codies/Trickstar should have used a different mechanism, i.e. making bowling yorkers extremely difficult. For example they could have implemented an algorithm whereby there's only a certain %ge chance (let's say 50%) to get the yorker right since bowling reticule could be enlarged a bit so that it's possible for the bowler to bowl a full-toss or a over-pitched (but not yorker) delivery along with the yorker. If you overpitch it (full toss) or don't get right up there (overpitched/haf-volley) AI will be able to hit it easily. Depending on the bowler's skill the yorker accuracy would vary. Someone like Steyn, Gul or Malinga should be able to nail yorkers 70% of the time but someone like Kyle Mills will only be able to do so 35% of the time - it should all depend on bowler's rating.

I mean it's just plain wrong to see shots being played which have never been played on a cricket field ever.

I know you guys hate this bug but there is nothing we can do about it at the moment. Im enjoying the game lots and have seen it a few times, i also hope trickstar fix it to but we have to give them some time. I still think they will tweak the game for aus release in oct. If they don't well i will not buy the aus one to. Time will tell.:D

This is obvious but by having a third man stops a lot of the upper cuts for 6. Still get late and square cuts but they tend to be on the ground. I always try and have a third man in one dayers to make it more bearable :doh

The most irksome issue for me is the ball trajectory change so that the bat can hit the ball when they play cuts over third man for six from the yorker.

That shot simply isn't possible from even an over-pitched yorker.

That's a good idea Zim. Having played mainly tests i have not tried 3rd man. Just relied on a gully most of the time to stop the cpu hitting too many shots in that area.
