Yeah its a bit of a joke really. YK is without a doubt most fit to be a captain, so the PCB keep giving him vice-captaincy. But its really quite ridiculous as he never wants to be a captain in the long term, so why not give someone else captaining experience.

Younus did not want to be vice-captain, but PCB begged him to take the job for just this series, so he did. He never thought that Malik would be gone for 2 test matches!

But a vice-captain's job is to lead the side in the abscence of the captain !
Surely, a veteran of a number of tests,Younis should have known that.

maybe Pakistan can do what India are doing. Have Younis as test captain and Malik as ODI captain so that he can gain exp. and the PCB can see if he has what it takes to be the test captain in the long run.

Anyways PCB have confirmed Malik will be captain till Dec 2008.

Well, Younus wants the captaincy on his terms. He wants full control of the selection, etc, which I think he should be given. He definitely did not know about Shoaib playing in the 2nd test, and did not want Sami playing in the 2nd and 3rd tests (as deserved).

I think Younus Khan would make a sensible captain, if given what he wants.

Yes,but could he not have mentioned these terms earlier ?
Yousuf would be the best option for Test captain,but at the time,Malik seems to be decent.
You can't really blame Malik for the loss against India.
