Jack Teague's Managerial Career - Worksop vs Thurrock [FM 06]

Match Day vs Blackburn Reserves
Pre-Match Talk said:
"Big game today. They are likely to play some of their big stars from main premiership team. I want you to put your heart and soul in this game and try and produce something near the quality of the Watford game. If we lose we lose, but the effort and performance is what I am looking for. Last game before start of the season and I would love it to give us a start with a good performance under our belts. Now lets go play some football..."

The game started and we looked nervy. They were on top and were definitely pushing for an early goal that could probably give them the boost they would need to get a big win. Many of their stars were playing - Mokoena, Reid, Enckleman and Thompson all starting with Todd the Blackburn captain on the bench. 17 minutes on the clock and the inevitable happened. Reid managed to slip into the box unmarked and hammered one home past the diving Bowling who could only parry it into the back of the net. Two minutes later Bowling was the man who kept out Reid and still showed the Blackburn team that Worksop were not out of it and still only 1 down. But once again in the 22nd minute Reid was able to slip a header past Bowling from a inswinging corner to give Blackburn a 2-0 lead. Poor passing lead to the 3rd goal for Blackburn with Hansen in a good crossing position played the ball straight to Reid and Reid slotted one through to Gallagher who made no mistake in beating Bowling 1-on-1. 2 minutes later and it was 4! Mokoena smashed a freekick from around 35 yards out into the top corner and the game was all but over with only 32 minutes gone. It was just now about seeing how many they would score. Another mistake from Hansen started off the move that made it 5-0 with some good passing and finished off by Gallagher for his 2nd. 3 goals in around 4 minutes! Half-time came and there wasn't much to say at the break.

"Well what can I say. They are of a much higher quality and are showing it. Not to the fault of yourselves much. I just want everyone to give it their best and my goal is to just get a goal to show we could get one past the Blackburn team..."

What a disaster  5-0  Blackburn has totally thrashed Worksop. Best of luck for ur next game Trev . nice story and great presentation

Not going too well Trev :p. Though it is Blackburn reserves with some quality players playing. Hopefully you can put up a sterner resistance in the 2nd half, and take at least some pride out of the performance. Good to see you updating this story again, looking forward the next update ;)

2nd half vs Blackburn Reserves

We started off positively making Enckleman work which had been a rare sight so far in the game. But disaster decided to continue it's work a few minutes later when a cross came in and Bowling triped up Reid after the ball had already rebounded off the upright. Williamson the referee had no choice but to award a penalty and it looked like we would conceed another. Mokoena steped up being their best finisher and tried to hammer it to the left but Bowling was equal to it and could parry it away with his hands. The ball bounced out into play and Byrom had the chance to bury it. He pulled it wide and maybe this was a sign of luck changing. This wasn't the case as they broke from the back and Reid caused havoc down the right and crossed for an eagerly waiting Gallagher who placed a header past Bowling to score his 3rd goal. The rest of the game from then on just really died and nothing happened for around 20 minutes. Into the 80's we got that goal we wanted. Some very good build up by the defenders and right winger set up a good crossing position. The ball was cleared and fell to Townsend who had a pop from edge of the area. The ball cannoned off the captain Andy Todd and looped over the keeper into the net. An own goal it was but it was the goal we were looking for. To level the 2nd half at 1 a piece was a good feat. The final result gave us some embarrasment but the 2nd half was a good showing that we can hold on against big clubs.

Completely thrashed in the first half, evenly matched in the second. Great improvement.

Just what you would have wanted, must have been more up for the fight, and you must hope that this second half performance inspires your team to greater things. Great work Trev, looking forward to the next match, you better win the next one :p

I guess you turned on to late but better late then never I guess. Your team must be really popular if 58 watched your game :p lol. Good luck in future matches.

Hey 58 is like capacity crowd for our ground (will have to check that) :p We are in the conference north division, so not even in the nationwide conference :happy

Your team must be small if you are happy that you got 58 at your game but I guess it was a friendly.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Shame the "Other Stories" Forum doesn't get as noticed as much :(

Yes Seeing as we are ecpected to go down this season and that would mean out of the proper nationwide leagues. To put into perspective here are the divisions:

Premiership
Championship
League 1
League 2
Conference
North/South Conference - This one

And yes it is a shame! It definitely doesn't give other story makers much motivation to continue updating...

The week leading to season opening
Chris Brown did the inevitable! Rejected our offer which was no surprise and went to Sheffield United. Still I wasn't dejected and went looking for a realistic target. I found a lad named Daniel Bainbridge from Alfreton. Alfreton were a team in our league and good rivals. They rejected being disgusted at the thought of giving us one of their players. I thought to myself "Is it worth it for all this hassle?" I decided to have one more go at signing a striker on loan. Jordan Johnson, a 18 year old hot prospect for the future. I decided to put in a loan offer for the whole season. On the day of the game got a call from Leek Town saying that they have accepted the offer. I asked them if he would be able to play in the afternoon for us in the first game. Unfortunately he couldn't make it down, but it was a relief to get a striker at last. Now for the first game of the league season...
