Is it just me or was jimmy anderson going to be englands next big player..........

He bowled amasingly during his debut games in aus considering the situations he was put in, he got 5/?? on his test debut and lets not forget his hat-trick against pak!!!!

I can track his dip in form down to the test against SA when he was warned for running on the pitch...............................england tried to change his action and he hasn't been the same scince.

Although whenever he does find the edge people drop his catches......

anyway, has anybody else got any other reasons for his drop in form???

(if you haven't seen jimmy's hat-trick go to http://www.cricketism.net/ism/sites/cricketism/ )

Part of the problem is similar to the Brett Lee scenario. He kept getting picked in the 12 for the Tests and then being the one dropped, and not being released to play county cricket. Also we had the problem of England playing only one warm up game in South Africa. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the problem. He should have been sent on the England A tour.

I think he was in the same mould as many a POM players.

English commentrators talked too highly of them at first and they cant do the same all the time .

Yes he was good but was made to be like another Wasim after his match winning performance against Pak in WC.

Thats why I keep on saying grow up Englishmen .

lol, very true..........watch out come the ashes tho. I know we're gonna win one game and when we do......well come up with some more bull about the english cricket moving on into a new era and were gonna rule the world. or some crap like that.

Yes but the point is he showed he could be a fantastic bowler, so hype will be high. If they had let him develop without messing about with his action he would probably be first choice in the tests and ODI's.

note: Anderson took 5/72 against Zimbabwe on his debut, and in WC when he got hat-trick he got three players who were rusty!

yea but you still gotta get the wickets, i dont see many indian bowlers whov'e achied this

i am sure an indian has takena hat-trick before!! anyway, has any aussie taken 10 wickets in an innings?!

Yeah and I think delonge was referring to an ODI hat-trick. Otherwise we have Harbhajan who got the hat-trick against the Aussies. Although two of them were probably not out. :p

How about this. Pathan was on a hat-trick two times in a match. Okay, so it was against Bangladesh.

Well I think andrew has made the only valid comment here. The only reason why Anderson is not producing the goods, is because he is not playing enough cricket. He gets picked in the squad but doesnt get a chance to play enough because England already have two frontline bowlers in Hoggard and Harmison. Hence his role is reduced to nothing more than a traveller.
It would be better if he released on a frequent basis to represent his county Lancashire and like Andrew said, should have been sent to Asia in the England A tour. Whenever he does get a chance in the starting lineup, he looks rusty due to lack of match fitness.

There is no doubt about his ability. He just needs to play a few games without any interruptions, and he will start doing what he does best - terrorise opposition batsmen.

Yes, the english commentators might have spoken too much too soon about him, but hey is very talented bowler. Its only a matter of time, before we see the old Anderson again!

Who knows me might be storing his best for the biggest event in cricket - the ashes!!
