Jet crashes in Indian Ocean with 153 aboard - Africa - msnbc.com

SAN'A, Yemen - A passenger jet carrying 153 people crashed into the Indian Ocean early Tuesday while trying to land in bad weather at the island nation of Comoros.

Earlier reports that a 5-year-old boy had survived the crash and was found floating at sea were probably incorrect, said Rachida Abdullah, an immigrations officer in the Comoros. Now, it appears the survivor is a 14-year-old girl, she told The Associated Press.

Neither report could be independently confirmed.

The Airbus 310 operated by Yemenia airlines was flying to Comoros from Yemen. Most of the passengers were from Comoros, returning from Paris. Sixty-six on board were French nationals.

Yet again an aircrash somewhere in the back related to France. :( I guess it goes down as a bad year for French Air travel, two crashes in such a short time.

RIP.

This is bad. May the souls rest in peace but if Im french I would pray before boarding planes this year.

oh no not a other plane crash
there have been alot of planes recent and something needs to be done
R.I.P

Why?

We've had two major liner crashes in the space of a couple of weeks. How many other liner flights have there been? Planes are still the safest form of travel bar none.

However, this is going off topic. RIP to those on the plane and I can't imagine what their families must be going through.

I still get a bit nervous before take off and I've been on a plane over 50 times. Although nowadays I tend to be asleep before take off.

I tweaking hate taking off. Hate it. Waiting for the plane to move. After it moves, waiting another 10 minutes before it actually starts to accelerate, looking out the window watching us get higher and higher and then seemingly lower as if we're falling.

I'm fine for the rest of it.

Yeah airplane is the safest way of travel without a doubt.

Not only that it was an Airbus again.

Yeah that's got to be getting worrying for airbus. This just can't happen.

R.I.P to all on board. This is sad news.

Is it the Airbus A380 that is crashing?

RE: Taking off. I love it. It's awesome watching as you 'elevate' in the air and then that surge as you're on a 45 degree angle. Feels awesome. Worst thing about flying is the ear popping. So annoying.

May their souls rest in peace.

BTW, this is quite a miracle guys! A teenage girl has survived (!) the crash!! A rescue party has found her! The sole survivor there. Amazing!
