West Indies vs New Zealand
1st Test - Kensington Oval
Barbados
With the Kiwis having a firm hold on this test match, it was up to Stephen Fleming to conduct his bowlers to do one thing: finish the Windies.
So, James Franklin and Shane Bond bowled a tight line, pressuring the pair of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo to not try anything too risky. They were happy to block the yorkers and avoid the swing of Bond, at least until lunch. But, Fleming still wasn't happy.
He stopped Shane Bond's spell and decided to bring in the left-arm spinner, Daniel Vettori. He started to do his duty, keeping Bravo struggling for runs.
However, Bravo soon got fed up with quick singles.
He came down the wicket and pulled Vettori for a one bounce four. With Dwayne gaining a bit of an advantage against Daniel Vettori, Stephen Fleming told his other bowler, James Franklin, to go after Bravo.
Franklin's first over of targeting Bravo started well. The first three balls just missed Bravo's outside edge, the fourth was chipped for two byes and the fifth was blocked near his feet. The last bell was a
very fast yorker and
Bravo misjudged the speed and was trapped for LBW! He was dismissed for a rather measly 12.
The West Indies stand at 77/4, with Sarwan still remaining, alongside Marlon Samuels. And with just under ten overs until a well-needed lunch, can the Windies avoid exposing their tail too soon?
WEST INDIES: 77/4 (Sarwan 39*, Bravo 12 - Franklin 2/34)
