Does anyone have any photos or video of John Dyson's catch to dismiss Sylvester Clarke in 1982?

Many (me included) consider it to be far and away the best catch ever. That's a big statement, but it's mainly in response to Channel 9's top six video of the "best ever" which has been doing the rounds. (unfortunately that's a 100mb file, and probably copyrighted so I can't post it anywhere). The catches in their top 6 are very impressive, but to not even include Dyson's catch, not even in their collection of other catches outside the top 6, is downright insulting.

I was trying to convince some of the young guys at work who don't remember it, but I don't have any footage to back it up. Anybody got any links for me?

cheers,
Ian

That's quite a perplexing comment. I wasn't after copyrighted material - my stance on that should have been pretty clear from my comment concerning the Channel 9 video.

You have plenty of "screenshots" and other material on this site, none of which I'm sure is copyrighted. Why would you assume that every piece of content other than that which is contained on this site, is copyrighted?

Let's say for example, that the Dyson catch was referred to in an online newspaper article (which for argument's sake is eluding me via google search). And in this hypothetical scenario there's a picture of the catch. What would be wrong in providing a link to the newspaper article? How would that possibly be participating "...in the illegal distribution of copyrighted material..."?

I tried googling it but couldnt find any pictures, although there's a lot of mention about the incident.Maybe there might be videos available in cricket stores which might show the moment.

Thanks Sid, I'll keep my eye out.

Andrew, it has to be said - your comprehension skills leave a little to be desired. Let me spell it out for you:

I AM NOT ASKING FOR, AND DO NOT WANT ILLEGAL OR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL OF ANY KIND, NO MATTER WHAT FORMAT THE MATERIAL IS IN. I DO NOT CARE IF IT IS AN IMAGE OF THE CATCH, VIDEO OF THE CATCH, AUDIO SOUNDBITE OF THE CATCH OR A VIRTUAL REALITY TOUR OF JOHN DYSON'S BRAIN AS HE WAS TAKING THE CATCH! I DO NOT WANT IT AND AM NOT ASKING FOR IT!

However, knowing as most logical people do that there is plenty of content on the internet, in many different formats, which is freely available (to link to Andrew! Not to steal! Calm down!) I was merely suggesting that such a link might be provided if anyone was in possession of it. I wasn't asking anyone to distribute anything. Hmph. Frustrating.

Anyway, I'll keep searching, and if I find anything I'll be sure to share it with other members of the forum, which as far as I'm concerned is a fairly principle function of forums like these.

cheers,
Ian

A link to a video would also not be provided, unless we were absolutely sure that site had permission from the copyright holder to distribute that video clip.

This is all I'm saying, as it is in fact your comprehension skills that leave a little to be desired. Planet Cricket will NOT in ANY circumstances provide access to copyrighted material. This is not limited to hosting copyrighted material, but includes providing links to such material, or suggesting means by which it can be (illegally) obtained.

If ANYONE links to a video file of the catch, and I am not 100% sure that site has permission from the copyright holder of the footage to distribute that video clip, I will remove the link. It should be quite clear why I would do this.
