Lack of support behind Sharma's alarming decline

nobodys doubting his talent or his ability. everyone's criticizing the lack of direction given to him !

he should build up some mass(work on his physique), play very less ODIs
and after a year or two....should slowly increase his ODI appearances !

It's because people here were complaining about him being in the ODI side but in 2007-08 he did extremely well.

The Australian wicket's suited his bowling a lot more, that's for sure. He was bowling with very good pace and was getting good bounce out of the pitches. He needs to change his length up when bowling on slower pitches.

For anyone who watched, how did Ishant Sharma bowl? Was it an improvement on before or was it the usual 130kph short and wide stuff?

The title should be "lack of skill behind sharmas alarming decline"

This guy is no where near as talented as the Indians would like us to beleive. He could not walk onto any team in world cricket besides Bang or Ind.

Id rather have the new 17 year old Pakistani lefty in my side than him.

Sharma had an okay game yesterday. Pace was mid 130's, relatively few rubbish deliveries, worst delivery of the game took a wicket, lol. Bowled a good last over which almost made the difference.

He was looking better towards the end. I saw him hit 138km/h and he was still able to beat the batsmen when they were well set.

and you should watch how he was bowling in his first spell ! :sarcasm

He started off slowly but by his second over, he was into his rhythm. He had great figures at the end of his 8 overs (3.85 Economy). He bowled the last two overs at the very end and was expected to get some stick but he bowled a brilliant final over to cap off a satisfying game. Bhajji and Praveen hurt us more with the ball (though their batting was superb)

He bowled more fuller in this game. I saw his pitch map and he had very few short deliveries this game. A lot of them were in the "Good" zone with a handful in the full zone. It was not scattered much which indicates that he was not too wide in his line.

Yeah same no change.

You might have been watching highlights of some previous games:p

Ridiculous! He has good height which means he can get good bounce. He was very lively when he started off as a bowler (he could touch speeds of 150). In test matches, he has the talent to consistently rattle the best of batsmen (Ponting would vouch for it). He has all the skills. He needs to manage himself better to be consistent enough. Thats where a good coach comes in handy. Prasad was not that guy.

hes surely better than the likes of onions and sajid mohammad !

Yea cause Saj Mahmood is our latest and greatest prospect :sarcasm

Its a true statement, he couldn't. On the other hand Jimmy Anderson and Freddie could.

Saj Mahmood was over 2 years ago. I can cherry pick bad runs in form for any team. I meant at his current form Sharma is useless. High 130s and inaccurate, that is no way near good enough for a spearhead quick bowler.
