laughably unreasonable cpu scoring rate

You'd think getting 140 in a 10 over match on meium would be fine to defend. Not so it seems. Even when the CPU requires 20 off the last over it isn't safe. It's so sodding fixed it's an absolute joke. I've tried different bowling approaches and fielding options, and it doesn't matter what you bowl - it's decided already its going to hit you for 6 every ball. What the happy thoughts is the point of that?
Load of bollo*ks I'm afraid. A great shame.
Anyone else share my view?

that was an impulsive rant by the way. i've since broken some stuff, so if anyone has any handy tips or just an explanation, that would be grand :)

play it in hardmode mate ,it make batting hard even for cpu

My tip would be to keep expensive objects out of reach when you play the 1-day games ;)

As BarmyArmy said, there are some excellent patches available that will make the 1-day games playable.

Happy hunting!

In fact it's almost realistic that the cpu scores at a quick pace in the 10 over version. Like in real life it will not make a difference if a few wickets go down. If we can score 140-180 runs in 10 overs, the computer AI is justified to score 140 runs in 10 overs too. Not that it is not defendable. I have defended 96 runs in 10 overs (Medium mode).
And, when you play 50 overs, the computer AI will never score so highly, again that depends how you bowl also!!

I got sick of this happening so I decided to set a trap at deep cover/extra cover with 3 players on the boundary. Then I just bowled outside off and the ai kept hitting the ball to the fielders.

I you want to defend your scores, you have to bowl to your field. Setting an offside field and then bowling straight or on leg is pointless. You have to limit the ai's scoring options just like in real cricket.

Cricket 2004 is a totally crap game...
You do not feel that you are leading the circumstances but circumstances lead you....
CPU will get out even on the worst ball and hit a high six on the perfect yorker
