Madeleine McCann Thread

Im aware that when i walk across a road i can get run over, do i think about it? No.

Im aware that when walking home from a party i could get stabbed, or worse. Does it deter me from walking home, No!

Is leaving your 3 children withing eyesight whilst having a quick meal going to make people think more than they do, no, as no one expects it, no one worries about it, The Mccanns only did one thing wrong, they should have checked more regularly than 30 mins

Oh so the parents could see through walls to their hotel room? Are you sure they are the McCann's not the Incredibles? They were no where near in eyesight, and is a quick meal from 7-10pm? I dont think so.

What is your point?

That we dont do enough to clamp down on kidnapping.

Hey i was right, your too childish to be in the thread  God im amazing.

Those who said you dont care are heartless and deserve all the **** that comes your way.

Please don't put words in peoples mouths, I hate it when people do that.

Simon, if parents neglected their children every time they were tired, they really would not be very good parents would they? Being tired is part and parcel of being a parent. If madman is right, there being a perfectly good babysitting service provided by the hotel, then they are clearly being neglectful.

The truth of the matter is, that the media is not criticising the parents because they come from proffesional backgrounds. If they were from, say, a council house estate, you could see the headlines 'National Disgrace' from a mile off.

@Manee. Of course we are not forgetting the kidnapper. It goes without saying he is the real villan.

So thats not spam? Nothing about the topic...
I have put more reallistic points accross in this thread than you, you think parents can see through walls and take binoculars everywhere they go.
And im not as stuck up as someone who thinks he knows everything.
And Maddy's parents should not have left maddy there. surely that is obvious, even to somebody like you...

Does it matter from where I am coming?

It means i understand wat you are saying. (you said i hope you understand or something.)

Do I care what happens to Madeline? Yes I do, I hope she is found safe and well.
Do I care what happens to her more than the hundreds, even thousands of kids that go missing every single year? No. Which was my original point.

My main problem with this is the attention given to this one case. If these two were black, working class, unemployed, or a same sex couple, this would not get even 10% of the publicity this case is getting. But because they're white, wealthy, both doctors, regular church-goers, etc, people seem to care more. And that sickens me. I want to see all this money going into campaigns to find ALL missing children. I want money to go to the National Missing Persons helpline, who offer support to thousands of families with missing people in the UK alone.

Do I think her parents neglected her? No. But they were pretty stupid to leave her alone like that, no matter what the circumstances. And of course, they should be staying with their other two little kids to help comfort them in the absence of their sister, not buggering off to Rome to give a photo to the pope and leaving them in a strange country.

For the life of all the people you know, stop arguing. If this continue's you know the thread will be closed as you are just stirring it know. If you are wrong your wrong and if your right your right. Nobody deserves to be kidnapeed but you are all taking it and making it 10 times worse. Just calm yourselves down and think, then post.

I agree, this case is no more special than thousands of others but i can't feel sympathy for something i don't know which is why i can only feel sympathy for madeline and not the thousands of others. Other victims or family of victims must feel so aggrieved that one case gets so much attention when they got none

Nobody is arguing, just discussing and debating. No need to say this, if you dont want to see this there is no need to get involved.;)

I agree 100% with Andrew Nixon. I can't believe the media, even in NZ, are giving it so much attention when so many children go 'missing' each year.

My original view was that of Andrew's. However, there was a sig there for a good cause so I thought I may as well support it. We all hope that she gets found safe, but we have to look at the wider picture, as Andrew highlighted. However, you can look even wider and think of all the troubles in the world today, a sig for these troubles would be much more valuable.

Thing is, a signature is definitely NOT going to make one bit of a difference. If it would, you'd see the Portuguese police in Myspace and Planetcricket with Help Maddy signs.
