The MCC World Cricket Committee has urged the ICC to overturn its decision to change the result of the 2006 Test between England and Pakistan.
England were initially awarded victory when Pakistan delayed playing on after being accused of ball-tampering. But the ICC later ruled the match was a draw, stating the "result seemed inappropriate to the board".

This is getting crazy now. I dunno what I want to happen here though.

They should just award England the Series 5-0 and elevate us to 1st in the World. They should do the same for the Ashes as well.

People are STILL going on about this? We won the series convincingly anyway, I don't care.

Well, the MCC is in charge of making and altering the laws of cricket and the committee, as part of its usual meeting, has found the decision of the ICC in July to be unlawful. It's not like a special assembly was held to judge the legality of the decision to overturn the result.

Isn't this a statistical matter now, anyway? I'd much prefer they do all this mudslinging in some private room or something.

I think it's more about setting the right precedent, though the odds of it happening again anytime soon are rather slim.

The precedent being set here isn't one that says "You can forfeit a match and still get it called a draw", rather it says that the ICC will bend over backwards if you complain enough, regardless of whether they have the right to do so or not.

As the MCC is the official makers of the laws of cricket, they have declared that the ICC do not have the right to overturn the result - and they shouldn't. A decision like that should go to a council that might actually do the right thing rather than the thing that appeases certain powerful members.

It's politics, and no we can't get rid of them, they're everywhere.

Precisely. Just clarifying that I am in agreement, as there is something in the tone of your reply that suggests an attempt to gainsay.
