BRYCE McGain will miss Australia's home Test series this summer, and possibly the season, after undergoing surgery on the shoulder tendon problem that forced him to return home early from the tour of India.

McGain, 36, underwent an operation to re-attach tendon to bone at the back of his right shoulder, and will have his arm in a sling for three weeks.

Thought I'd start new thread on it. Such a shame for McGain he could have made the spot his own for a year or two. But at least it means we can look at our other spin options.

After the 1st round of Sheffield shield Cullen and Holland look the pick of the spinners.

It's such a shame. :(

2 years back, Australia, one of the most dominating cricketing powers in the world, proudly showed it's spin gems to the world and showed what spin is.

Now, the same team 2 years later, is struggling to find a good spinner. I'd personally reckon that by sending your players to big leagues like IPL, they can get a lot of exploitation out of the different pitches they play on. The first season, it was the australian, who was the player of the IPL tournament. But that's a different stat.

There are many bowlers who left out recently. Shane Warne, Stuart McGill (at times, used to turn more than warne used to turn), Brad hogg(big loss, has such a good variation in his bowling) and many bowlers.

I don't know why ponting isn't bowling Katich as he's selected. He's chinamen, takes crucial wickets. Michael clarke's a great back-up. But, if he concentrates on one thing (Bowling), he loses the other strength at that moment (Batting).

I personally feel there's no crisis for australian cricket. Just like the emergence of shane warne, there will be another good spinner in their squad. If not now, it'll be soon.

Ruled out is the correct term, rubbed out implies a suspension ;)

But it's pretty bad news for Australia, but in the long term I think it will be good for us to be able to breed guys like White, Casson, Krejza and hopefully someone else like Cullen.

You can drop White and Krejza from the list. Not seen other bowlers in action.
