Tait out for two months with elbow injury

I don't think this changes much for the World Cup. So he misses 3 ODIs v India and another 3 v SL. It would have been good to give him more experience in India before the World Cup, but he'll still be able to build up some good form against England in January.

And as others have pointed out, Australia have heaps of options. None with his pace obviously, but Nannes and perhaps even a fit-again Brett Lee get pretty close if they want an express bowler.

Poor Tait :( He was in great form :facepalm I just hope, he is still a part of our World Cup plans :upray

Well a) He misses the chance to prove he can go well in the 50 over format in India. b) It gives the other bowlers another chance to show their worth. Harris has already jumped the queue through injuries, Peter Siddle could get himself back into the side and with that goes Tait chances.

He wouldn't have been as effective as he was in England. They will make some shity low bounce flat pitches. Thanks to Mitchell Johnson, and his "I will bounce Sehwag" those guys will make even flatter pitches.

I watched few overs of Aus, holly ████, 5 balls out of 1 over, keeper had to take it on one bounce. Idk if it's the pitch or Indian bowlers. Though I will watch more tonight, I wanna see Johnson bowl.

The pitch is just slow. You can't blame the curators really, it's been raining a lot. There hasn't been time to prepare the pitch.

Anyways, this is probably better. We'll get a result. I reckon 2nd innings batting will be difficult and spin will come into play. Hopefully some team will win in the last session day 5!

Hmm yeah I see the point, but I think the selectors have shown in the past that they think Tait is one of those guys who can quickly jump EVERYONE in the queue if they think he can be the difference maker. Same for Brett Lee. They just value guys with raw pace. And playing the devil's advocate, it may actually be a good thing for Tait, as not playing for 2 months will keep him a bit fresher for the long season.

^ Ya he will be in the 15 player squad for world cup. If not IN the 15, he will go as 16th. He will be there.

It becomes a gamble to pick him since they don't know if he will last the tournament and of course how he'll go in India. If the replacements go well then Tait won't find his way back in unless injury hits. It took injuries and the inexperience of Hazlewood coupled with the fall of McKay to get Tait back into the side in the first place, before that a ton of youngsters were being picked over him.

Raw pace is very handy in India when the ball isn't swinging or seaming. + Raw pace = good reverse swing with the old ball. So I don't blame the Aussie selectors for rating it so highly.

Sheer pace isn't the best for those pitches. The ball just skids on off a length and although that might hurry a poor batsman, the good ones enjoy stroking the line and getting lots of extra power. The pace only becomes good when there's something else to go with it.

The thing with Tait is that he doesn't have to think too much to begin with. He has pace, he gets good reverse swing, all he has to focus on is using the old ball well and bowling full and straight towards the end of the innings. He has a good bouncer and a decent slower ball too. In rhythm he can be extremely destructive at the end of an innings.

Think of him has a less-consistent but faster Malinga.
completely agree with him.
