MS Dhoni-Hack or Star?

But that's just not true Gambino. When in form Gilchrist is, and then Sangakarra, if you're going based on "when in form" then it has to be done on averages, as they would average more than that on form.

For me Sangakarra is the most inform wicket-keeper batsman at the moment, although it shows just how great Gilchrist is when people are talking about him being in a slump for the last year or two and still averaging around 35 which is generally considered to be pretty good as a wicket-keeper.

I don't know, read DDK somewhere and it kinda stuck. I think it was DDK Karthik on Cricinfo once or something...
I think KKD is what you are looking for. :D

akmal is the best keeper

and after him i would pick sanga

then the rest
When in form it would have to be Gilchrist without any questions. Australia's slip cordon is more or less perfect in both forms of the game, Gilchrist has had to keep to the world's best leg spinner for much of his career, and on his day, he can destroy any opposition and change the course of a test match single-handedly. Akmal might become that, but he is not yet on level with Gilchrist.

When in form, I'd say akmal is the worst keeper...you can cut the bias here with a knife, it's so thick! The best would be probably be Gilly, and then Sanga-though I think Sangakkara will take the helm as best WK batsmen soon enough.

Australian slip cordon perfect i think you have not watched the last ashes
its far from perfect and i think sangakara is the best wicket keeper in the world .gilly is a close second but he does not keep on turning tracks.

Gilchrist in his hayday was a much better wicketkeeper then he is now.

His in a similar situation to what Sir Viv Richards was in towards the end of his career, he still has the ability to pull out something special but not as consistantly.

Plus as I mentioned above there is no guarentee that someone will come in and average what he is over his supposed slump, in fact if they did it would probably be heralded a success. England would kill for a keeper that averaged around 35 for the last two years!

He still is. Plays county cricket somewhere, doesn't he?

For Essex, one of the greatest wicket-keeper batsman in history and one of the finest players of spin of his generation. A shame Zimbabwe cricket went down the pan as we have been deprived of his quality on the international stage.

Up there with Gilchrist without doubt for me.

I agree. If you take stats from the last calender year 2006 sanga is up there with the highest run scorers in both forms of the game. In tests he ddnt keep for a few I think but he is fully qualified to do so its just dat they wnted to tke the stress off him in the longer format of the game.

Gilly on his day is just one of the greats as we saw at the MCG quite brilliant. But ovr the past few seasons sanga has been more consistent and making more runs which puts him up there. When gilly retires no doubt he's gng to be the best

Dhoni would get there eventualy but i reckon the others apart are lower dwn the order.

I'll say Dhoni and Mccullum would be ones to watch out for.

And Andy Flower gave tips to A.Cook before the Indian tour last year. :p

Even though I didn't mention him previously Akmal is still one of the brighest talents around. He already has a fair few 100's in both forms of the game in a variety of different circumstances. Unfortunately his last year was appaling, and his career will be made or broken on how he responds to the slump. If he comes out a better player for it then he will have a very good career, if not then he might just sink out of sight.

There's a lot of talk about Kamran Akmal here but I actually think McCullum is better. He has a healthy average of 32 in Test matches with 2 centuries and 6 fifties to boot. His glovework is solid and always chips in with 20's and 30's and is an excellent fighting cricketer.

Me too. Akmal is a high risk player, needs confidence. if he has a good start to a game, he is great. Not, then he is poor.
Mccullum is very consistent, a good fighter, and very tidy.

But, if you saw KKD's keeping today, amazing. Give him a permanent spot in the Test Team, damn it! 90 odd against Aus, and this games performance. Brilliant!
