MS Dhoni-Hack or Star?

Firstly: This topic isn't about Afridi.
Secondly: Afridi is a mindless slogger. Dumbest cricketer in the world at the moment.
Do I care if this topic isn't about Afridi? I brought him in to show how rubbish Dhoni really is. And if Afridi is such a mindless slogger, how come he managed such good scores against India? 141, 109, 100, 150...The list goes on and on.

those were some really flat pitches against some very ordinary bowling attacks.
I`d like to see whether he can score against the current Indian bowlers especially looking at how they`ve been bowling in SA.
I bet he`d struggle against us now with.
The current attack has a recharged Zaheer, Sreesanth and Munaf Patel with Irfan in the bench !

As far as Dhoni is concerned, he has a long way to go before he is even compared to Gilly.
Gilly has set a whole new standard for Wicketkeeper batsmen such that the pure wicketkeepers no longer exist in the modern game.

Dhoni`s keeping has improved in the SA series

How's he going in the last 12 months? Average of 9, SUPERSTAR!

Is that why he's scored the fastest ODI century in the world? Is that why he scored a 45 ball century against India in '05? Is that why he scored 150 against India in the Test Series last winter?
Anything new we all know that.It was scored in 1997 against Sri Lanka in Nairobi,Kenya. You can remind me only 2-3 of his innings but Dhoni has played more than half a dozen match saving innings in his short career so far.Particularly against the Pakistan. :p

Actually the list stops about there, considering India make up 5 of his 9 career tons

dhoni to me seems temperamental alot like afridi. Aditya said his keeping has improved, which is alot like Geriant Jones, when he bats well his keeping his poor, although recently his scores have decreased and his keeping has improved. Although i feel Dhoni is on a much higher scale than Jones and is the better player

At best Dhoni is average with the gloves. Even Dravid was better! India need someone good behind the stumps for the WC...

well they just as well keep Dhoni as he can keep wicket and score quick runs if needed to

Get your facts right. It was in '96 when Sri Lanka were at the top of their game. Hitting Murali over the top numerous times is no easy task!

You're talking crap! I'm sorry, but that's the truth. Dhoni has been pretty good with the gloves actually and I fail to recall any major mishap that he's made recently.

I think Dhoni has improved from what I've seen. At first, he was just a wild slogger but some innings his shown better temperment and has controlled himself. One of the ICC Champs Trophy's games is an example where he forced himself to push around singles for 10-15 overs before unleashing and he played a pretty decent knock and got himself a half-century.

Another example would be the last test against SA, he played brilliantly for 30 odd where India were in a very difficult situation and showed good temperment for someone whose being compared to Afridi. Unfornately he played one rash shot and got himself out at a crucial time.

But all I've seen from him is improvement TBH. If he can continue to improve his temperment in batting and with that he has allot of talent to hit the ball hard when required & adapt a better knowledge of his techinque and what to do in particular situations then he'll be a fine addition to the Indian side for the next several years as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

The same goes for Afridi but in his own fault. He (unlike Dhoni) isn't going in the right direction and his probably ruined 11 years of his career to make himself more successful and credible.

I must say I find it funny that some of the Pakistani fans are being so defensively about Afridi and are trying to down Dhoni's talent and skill in this thread.

So add one more year to that,it means 10 years ago he scored the fastest century. And murli at that time wasn't the kind of bowler he is now.I don't think we need to prove you wrong. He is not in the team currently because of his irresponsible batting. He is just a one inning wonder.

It's amusing how you're trying to justify his position. He's completely useless behind the stumps. In fact, when's the last time India had a world-class keeper?

Murali was at his peak then.

One inning wonder? So what about all those other scores against India?

What talent? Dhoni is the slogger here, not Afridi. If most people here weren't so anti-Pakistani, they'd realize that too.

You have a lot of self-belief in your bowling attack don't you?

To hear it from an Indian: Our pace bowlers are crap!

And actually mate- A lot of people here are anti-Pakistani. No need to give names; but it's quite plain to see.
