There is a new worm infecting a lot of computers called, MsBlast.
it instals a program called 'MsBlast in your HDD/Windows/System32 folder
it access your computer by any internet connection and you are advised to put up a good firewall.
when your computer is affected it sends a message to you while you are on the internet and tells you your computer is going to shut down.

the message that is attached comes up

This is a serious issue. :sangam: I for one suffered from this virus.Try this method too.

1-Check to see whether your computer is effected by it by searching for the file "msblast.exe".If you find the file then delete it.

2-Unplug your modem.

3-Run "msconfig" and go to startup. If you find msblast.exe then untick it.

4-Get yourself a good firewall. If you have windows XP then follow these steps.

-Click Start
-Click Control Panel
-If the heading "Pick a Category" appears, then choose the "Switch to classic view" option on the left-hand-side
-Next double-click Network Connections - this should give you a list of all network and internet connections on your computer, one of which will be your cable modem connection.
-Click the right-mouse-button on the connection used for your cable modem, and choose Properties
-Select the Advanced tab
-Select the option to "protect my computer and network"
Click OK

If you don't have a firewall then you can download one from here.

5-Download the corresponding patch for your computer from here.

PS: If this method doesn't work than don't blame me but blame NTL's channel 9. B)

I tried this and it does work, i had the virus too.
With the firewall, remember to take it off when playing nline games e.g. Midtown Madness, Age Of Mythology.
because i didn't and now my some of my games are wrecked, so just as a warning to others....... ;)
