Hi,
Today I got chance to play in nets with oculus rift using vorpX driver and Oculus Dev-Kit. I must say I loved it and I can easily see that how much potential it has to be developed properly for playing.

Major drawback was that camera is fixed even in pro-mode and mouse movement (oculus head movement) was not able to control it but some short balls I played really hurried onto me if only we have free head movement that can be controlled using movement of oculus I think we will have a perfect cricket game bating experience one can dream of.

Attaching some pictures of the screen I dont think much can be made out of them but just to add little more flavor to the thread.

That does look pretty awesome. Out of curiosity, how did you get hold of an oculus?

@bigant: What about Track IR - could it work with that? You could definitely use it to check the field out prior to the bowler beginning his run up, and to see whether the ball you just hit has gone clear of the field! It would be great!

I got few of them for my company we work for CG industry.

nice does it feeling like your batting.

It was good experience like I said really missed free head camera otherwise it would be perfect (plus these oculus prototypes are low-res at the moment) but I must say that few short balls really came onto me pretty good.

I think it will be the future of cricket gaming and by using this you can set your eye on the ball for real life cricket training too.

Ross mentions in this post that they have Oculus Rift working in the game;

But that it won't be a standard feature because the final form of the OR is not yet known, but that support for it could be patched in if there's enough demand.

I wouldn't buy one right now due to the low-res display, but the concept is brilliant, definitely something I'm very interested in! Look at this absolutely ridiculously awesome combo of gadgets;

I think next release DBC 15 can have oculus support as it will be out in the market and we would be able to see final form of it. But as much as we have used it here at work it is really very nice and results are just amazing.
