Quad core certinly seems the way to go for the future.

However there is no shame in owning a dual core processor when most people are still on single cores.

I agree, but when you're building a pc of this power you certainly wont want to upgrade it again after spenind so much

Well it probably wont be for 7 - 8 months that I get the computer, so hopefully quad + ddr3 will be the norm by then.

Also, what do people think of this monitor?

It has an 8 in 1 card reader, iPod dock and inbuilt speakers (which I probably wont use but if they are good I might as well)

Looks pretty good to be honest, but one thing is bugging me. i have a viewsonic itself 17" widescreen LCD, and even that has the true resolution of 1440X900 ? That makes the 19" one sound wierd, doesnt it ?

Via Trademe, yes. Trademe is similar to eBay in NZ. One of my friends got a real nice deal for $1000.

there seems to be a few quality 8800gts 640mg systems for >1800

The only problem would be of the Warranty. They will give you original receipts etc. but the companies can ask for the original purchaser at times.
