A Horrid Day Out In The Middle For NSW
New South Wales came out and bowled out Queensland quite quickly, it only took 20 minutes of the day to bowl them out with Mcgill picking up a 2 wickets and Mcgrath picking up one more to bowl Queensland out for 235.
Antics on the balcony saw Katich and Mail scurry round the changing room looking for kit that the NSW players have hidden, lead by Lee, they all jeered as after 5 minutes of frantic looking and turning the changing room upside down, they run down the steps and onto the field.
A cracking start for NSW, the two openers put on 35 off just 8 overs, and then horror struck for Mail, he temporarily stopped moving his feet and the muchly experienced Bichel camped him plum in line of the wickets, Bichel celebrated in style as Mail went back to the dressing room for 22.
The day kept going from bad to worse, partnerships came about, and then colapsed a few balls later, everyone scored at least one run but no one scored above Mail's 22.
NSW were bundled back to the dressing room for only 118 runs, and heated words were heard coming out of the dressing room as NSW were having a chat before coming back out.
Queensland pilled on more misery throughout the day, but NSW started brightly, taking both openers in the first 10 overs. Pietersen was on the field and took 3 catches, one of them was a cracker, a low down ball, Pietersen flew forward and cupped it in his spade like hands, one was a sitter which even Monty Panesar of England could have caught with little trouble, and one, which amazed most people in the stadium, a clever piece of batting saw S.Watson try to lift the ball over the slips to a empty 3rd man space. Watson got it right, or so he thought, Pietersen turned and ran for about 10 metres and dived to take a wonderful catch, for the whole time he was facing away from the ball, and took one glance before he flew through the air to take a great catch.
Queensland end the day the happier, they have a lead of 243 with 6 second innings wickets in hand.#
The NSW players and management team didnt bother coming out to speak to the news crew so we'll have to wait for tomorrow to see how NSW cope with this poor display of cricket.
