We saw in the KFC T20 between India and Australia that the Aussies sported their nicknames on their backs.
Now,to some it is okay, but to others it is not.

Many commentators on ESPN criticized this move by the Aussies. This included Ian Chappell as well.

My question to you ppl is whether the nicknames should be sported on the backs ? Bear in mind that this is not a college cricket match and that it is an international match.
To the neutral,it is very difficult to know who is who.

it should be last names. you are playing for your country and you want to represent your famillys name and be proud of that not some nickname that someone gave you.

I don't mind the nicknames, T/20 is for fun, leave the nicknames, that's the part of it, and ICC is trying to make T/20 look serious. Give it a break.

It's not against the rules. So yes. The players also have numbers which server the purpose. Should players be allowed to be miced up may be another question to ask. I mean, the commentators can help the players you could argue. It'd suck if they stopped that though. It's good fun.

It's quite easy for those people at ESPN or Indian fans to question it after they were absolutely decimated and embarrassed in the match. Anything to cry about I guess.

Maybe. But I also think its also because they dont like to take it as fun, because they won the world cup etc.

Australia is the only team that does it I think, I don't think it really matters

I reckon it was a great idea. Twenty/20 matches are just a load of fun. Only problem is if your new to the game it is hard to find out who the players are. So the booklet that is available at the games are pivotal to understanding the game better. Also maybe a fielding position map in the booklet. These little things would really help a new comer. Twenty/20 cricket attracts loads of attention and is taken cricket to a whole new level. So they must do whatever means necessary for the newcomer to enjoy and understand the game.

We have had the nicknames for ages, no criticism of it till now. I don't think its a problem, it's only 20/20.

there shouldn't be a problem about this the players wear it and its their shirts its for them to decide.

I think its fine. Perhaps when they're doin a player intro (ie looks at the stats) then they should give the proper name. Though i do see why its a bit annoying considering they're representing their country but twenty20 is really only fun. Yeah compete to win and be serious about playing but don't get too picky about these things. The live performance was a good idea and i think nicknames are good too as you get a glimpse at their personality.

i hate it and think its stupid

Went to a WA vs Vic 20/20 game an couldnt work out who was who.
I never buy the stupid books at the games im there to watch it not read books to try an figure out who took that awesome catch i should be able to look at his back and see who it is.

Its fine when im watching on tv but when your at the game its too hard to know who it is.

Its fine, after all T20 is a bit of fun compared to the test and ODI arena.....
