Pace or Swing?

Shane Bond would've been nothing without swing. And I mean nothing. Yes he was fast aswell, but he ripped teams apart when he swung it but was useless without it. Most Quicks do swing the ball though and if they didn't they wouldn't be nearly as good.

As a swing bowler I'm probably biased :p But watch the 2005 Ashes or something, or 2009. Swing bowlers win matches.

Having one of those express bowlers works too, just to change it up. And usually you'll get something from them on any surface.

Yeah I agree with what you guys mean, because it is usually the swing bowlers that have performed in England (like Hilfenhaus). But you have to consider that the English batsmen are pretty good against pace.

But then in places like Aus and SA where there is hardly any swing, hit the deck bowlers have performed the best.

Feck dude, Akram was up past the 140's wasn't he? Another example of how pace and swing together are more lethal.
Yes but he relied more on swing rather than pace plus he is know as the king of swing.

Then what was he?

Here's a few more - Akram, Waqar, Vaas, Pollock,etc

He was a complete package, had a bit of everything.

Akram, Waqar and Pollock also had pace.

Vaas only had a decent record in NZ, WI, SL and ZIM, otherwise he was terrible.

Decent is a little harsh but yeah, apart from Pakistan he averaged over 40 everywhere else and over 70 in England

Oh come on he didn't have the pace to trouble the batsman, it was his swing that got them.
