Newsflash

James Edmonds, an unknown English coach has been appointed as manager of Pakistan in Bob Woolmers position as he was rushed to hospital with food poisoning(:spy) Moving further into James Edmonds' career he has managed some minor clubs and has been on the verge of signing a deal with English Domestic club Essex but said "Want Pakistan, thats what me wants." It will be interesting how he interacts with the Pakistan players, of course not speaking Urdu like most of the players but he said "We can talk in IM." James Edmonds' first campaign(And possibly his last depending on the Woolmer Situation) is the World Cup in the West Indies. He has alot of good prospect at his hands and will be expected to choose a side that will at least get to the Semi-Final, unlike a phony fortune-teller(Himself a 'poxy' Englishmen) called Arslaan Khalid who said that Pakistan would not even get through their own group! We are expecting to hear an announcement soon about the squad that will be going to West Indies.

By the way just thought I would point out that it is BA's fault I am doing this story. :p

Newsflash

Pakistan stand-in coach James Edmonds, today revealed the 15 man team that would be travelling to the West Indies in which he said "The trophy is ours." Here is that team:

Inzamam Ul-Haq
Mohammad Yousuf
Salman Butt
Younus Khan
Fawad Alam
Yasir Hameed
Anwar Ali
Kamran Akmal
Shahid Afridi
Abdur Razzaq
Mohammad Asif
Umar Gul
Rao Iftikhar
Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib Malik

A few suprises in store there with Anwar Ali and Fawad Alam both in the team along with Iftikhar. Definetly gambles which in my opinion won't pay off with them taking the place of people like Nazir,Sami etc but we'll see. Also the oldies are there too, the likes of Yousuf,Khan and Inzamam. Now for the 'Best Pick' section:

Best Pick
Mohammad Yousef

Mohammad Yousuf raises his bat after breaking Viv Richards's record for most runs in a calendar year

Mohammad Yousuf, one of Pakistan's best ever players in my mind, is a guru in all the forms of the game. He is paticulary good in TESTS, but in his ODI career he is also very good. His last century may of been in 2005, but it was against West Indies in Australia, against the team that they play first. I am sure history will repeat its self where he scored 105. A legend among his people.

Pakistan v West Indies

Well here we are for the first game of the entire 2007 World Cup and Coach James Edmonds' first game as Coach of Pakistan. The last two World Cups have been won by Australia and this time every team wants it to be different. The first game to open the World Cup will be Pakistan against the hosts, West Indies. Just before the game both Countries put forward their teams. So here they are:

Teams-1.jpg

Well both teams have put Fantastic teams forward and it looks like it could be an even contest here at Sabina Park in Jamaica(Kingston) Both teams have put forward quite an easy solution to win the game and have played the first game quite safe with no real suprises although Afridi is in the side and they will need a big game from him, with the bat and bowl today. It's a Sunny day and the Sun should last all day, although aong with the very flat pitch and the very fast outfield it could be a batsman's pitch. If this is the case and turns out who can hit the highest, then it will go down to the wire with Pakistan with a 4 man tail opposing to West Indies' 3 man tail, in which Pakistan would probaly just edge it. Although I think if the Bolwers can get something out of the pitch today then I also think that Pakistan will win, so I am going to go on and say Pakistan for the win in this sunny, and light, day. Well anyway, I have just been inmformed that they have just been out for the toss and Pakistan Captain Inzamam Ul-Haq called heads and... lost. Funny how the team that bat first is going to be the favourites to win the game and the team batting first will be West Indies. Looks like my prediction is out of the window then. Moving swiftly on it's time for 'The Player To Watch' section

Player To Watch

My players to watch for this game, 1 from either side are Brian Lara and Shahid Afridi. Brian Lara is a legend in the world of cricket and has a very high standard. He will of course be instrumental in all of West Indies matches, but todays could be an important tie for him. His elequant cricketing style can sometimes getaggressive and he can get the runs when needed. He can pretty much decipher on his own wether a team wins the match sometimes.

On the other hand with Have Shahid Afridi who will either be absolutely amazing or will be very poor. I can only hope that he plays with technique at least a small priority of his game and uses his brain a bit more when in a tight situation rather than lashing out. A very aggressive batsmen, whom at his best is invulnerable to bowlers. Hopefully he won't divert too far from his game but hopefully he can make an impact on todays game.
