Per the BBC: BBC Sport - Peter Moores: Lancashire coach to get England job again

BBC News said:
Peter Moores is to be named England's new head coach, BBC Sport understands.

It will be the 51-year-old's second spell in charge of the national side after an ill-fated reign between 2007 and 2009.

He replaces Andy Flower after being chosen ahead of England's current one-day coach Ashley Giles and three other candidates.

At least its not Giles, thats all that I can say at this point!

Peter Moores strikes me as a bit of a wet weekend. I'd much prefer Mick Newell but as it's already been said, anyone else is better than Giles.

Yeah, I'm all aboard the not Ashley Giles boat, so this isn't bad news. I don't know a great deal about Moores to be honest. He obviously did well to win the Championship with Lancashire, but getting relegated the next year hardly bodes well. I'm surprised they didn't pick someone new, but it'll be interesting to see what happens come the first Test of the summer.

The shortlist told you everything you needed to know about the ECB. They've got the financial power to employ whoever they like, but they only want someone who won't rock the boat and say all the right things about the ECB.

Presumably any coach worth their salt told the ECB where to go, after all, who could work with the ECB when they've got stockbrokers sacking players? Nobody.

KP to return as captain?

You can't blame him for returning to his home country. England are a better team, have a better set up, better facilities and will pay more.

I agree with the last two: but the first one is questionable at best with regards to test cricket, and completely wrong in regards to both limited overs forms of the game...

The Sri Lankans should use this as motivation to put one over their old coach in the summer.

The highlighted is all Farbrace cares about. Lanka are a far betetr ODI and t20 side and not too far behind England in tests. That might sound like a big statement but Lanka are exceptional in home conditions, as are England but not so good away from england....just like sri lanka.

I agree with this. Plus in a year, Sangakara and Jayawardne will be gone so I think he made a pretty good decision.
