Hi all ,
I need to prepare an arrangment of data in a particular order of preference( as per the codes) for my admission procedure in postgraduate courses.
The thing that I want to do is
1.enter all the data into the computer under 3 headings viz. seat code(numeric) , subject(text) and college name(text)
2.Then I need to arrange the above data in a particular order ( technically it will not be in any fixed pattern order).I mean I want to arrange the data as per the seat codes in a particular fashion I prefer.(Something like I type the code and the rest of information ie. the subject and college name is displayed and then again I type the next college code and so on).The number of codes is something around 300.And I need to prepare the list very soon.

May be if someone could help me regarding how I go about it (I mean under which software can this be done and a brief advice regarding how to do it), I would be highly thankful to him.

A database would be ideal for this.MS Access being the most easiest to use.
Thanks for the quick response.I will try it at the earliest.Right now I don't have that software on my comp.I will try to manage it on some other comp.

But after creating database how do I go about step 2 ie. arranging them in a random order(in the order I would prefer) as per the codes?

After creating the database(with hopefully a primary key),you just type in the things in the table attributes that you made. You see see several boxes under each attribute.
