Rameez Raja.. A real embarrassment for all in the commentary box!

Nah, Arun Lal is second worst, after Athar Ali Khan. I always thought he was bad but the Sri Lankan tour (test series) was what assured me he was. He spent about 10 minutes talking about lizards and whatnot.

And I am surprised to see so many Pakistani members up in arms and singling out Indians as if in retaliation. Dudes, chill, I did not single him out because he is a Pakistani, but because he is so dire. So is Arun Lal, and Ranjit Fernando. Since Lal has not been active as Rameez in the box, I forgot about him to mention in this thread.

BTW just to play the appeasement card, Wasim Akram is one of my favorite commentators. He is honest, suave and speaks good english. Plus he is knowledgeable on what he talks. Rameez plainly and vainly tries to imitate western commentators, falling flat every time on his face.

I think there is hardly any "class" in the commentary box except in England and Australia.

ALL of the Indian, Pakistani and Shri Lankan commentators suck to the core.

Ramiz Raja, Aamir Sohail, Waqar Yunus do not have any command over english language and this makes it even more difficult for them to come up with impromptu comments. They either repeat the cliches or talk non sense.

The Indian commentators are equally bad. They just don't disagree with each other. EVER.

There are 2 categories.
1. The elites: Ravi Shastri, Gavaskar, Bhogle:
A real bunch of c8ck suckers. They will go on and on about Sachin as if there is only 1 player playing the test and not 22. They are so good at creating this feel good factor. The only good thing about them is that they are well educated and know when to stop ass licking.

2. The extras: Siva, Arun Lal, Maninder Singh, Atul Wassan etc.
Whatever one commentator says, the other has to agree. I have never seen any Indian commentator criticizing Sachin or any Indian captain for that matter.
They will never praise the effort by a touring side.

The Lankan commentators, well its better if I don't talk about them. Ranil something bloody bastar* makes me turn off the TV.

Ranjit Fernando feels that Maila Jauwerdene is the best batsman in the world.
Ass*le can't even pronounce "cricket".

Helaly, Mark Taylor, Michael Slater will never criticize the aussie behavior.
Even in the Sydney test non of these australian commentators ever mentioned about the decisions that went Australias way.

Agree with the points on the whole. but the talk about Australian commentators being the pinnacle of commenting is plain wrong. I've never come across such smug, self pleasing, biased bunch of ███████. Not even the Indians come close. Ch 9 takes the cake with the stripper in it in this case. The only exceptions are Ian Chappell and of course Benaud, but the latter is retired now.

Best of the lot is the Sky team. Holding, Athers, Hussain, etc makes it enjoyable with their quips and insights. Bumble adds to the fiasco and Beefy's honest blunders add to the overall package.

This is kind of over-statement. Yeah, I agree, there aren't many class commentators in India, but only Australia and England breeds good commentators and no other country- sorry, I think it's a bit biased.

Bumble is funny, not exactly classy. For me the best commentator in the business now is Ian Chappell. Amazing insight and understanding of the game. Ironically till 2007-08 Ind in Aus series, he used to be one of my most hated commentators, simply for his stupid call for Tendulkar to retire after WC 07. Since then, I used to take extra effort to listen to this guy, to see whether he regretted that on the spur call, and gradually I found myself liking the guy's opinions.

there is nothing wrong with Rameez Raje
if you think he says funny lines then atleast we can laugh at something..anyway do you vare about the commentry more then the match?
I don't even listen to the commentry.

1. When I turn on the TV and a Cricket match, my primary aim is watching the game rather than listening to the commentary.

i observed his commentary 2day (Delhi vs Bangalore) and realized that Rameez tries his rumour.
He is very comfortable by what he speaks.
He is a good commentator and the one of the bests I suppose.
I honestly think he is not being able to be quiet open while passing comments as he is a Pakistani nd any kind of wrong comment can raise the voice from the Media

Exactly. I would at least expect an English commentator to be comfortable with the language. He is after all supposed to comment in English.
