Hi friends i have just discover how to play power shot over extra cover
fielder. Stand outside of offstump. If bowler bowls overpitch ball., drive with
power button (shift), and you will get flat shot over extra cover. But having
said that, one should make sure that there is max. distance between the
body and ball. More the Distance, more u will get the flat shot!

You mean stand outside the leg stump? You need lots of room to play that shot!

too true.... i struggle to play that shot anyway.... it always seems to be edged at catchable height to backward point.....

well, i think from my view point, that shot is very simple and easy to play bcoz i hv very much xperience of playing that shot you will get only a four if you r batting with kaif or dravid category of batsman though sehwag can hit it for six.

I just tried this shot several times in a 20 over ODI, as India vs. West Indies. End result: 53 all out. It's not a high percentage shot at all and it seems that even with the same timing, the results are very varied. The lofted-on drive seems a much better shot to play

Hey Hari,
Can you let me know what's the timing required for playing lofted on drive and also which kind of deliveries should you play the shot against?

Your reply can be something like ... "Hit the button as soon as ball hits the pitch. Play the shot to fast bowlers when it's pitched on middle or leg at medium length and batsman has taken a stance on leg stump".

This sort of a tip will help me a lot as I can play lofted advance down the wicket shots easily but struggle to time the ball when playing standars shots with power button.

Also let me know what is the direction for lofted on drive. Is it 'right' or 'down and right' for a right hander?

Thanks.

The lofted on drive is down and right (For the right hander). The timing is very similar to Cricket 2004 version at least for this shot. That's why I find it quite easy to play it.

The best length to play is well-pitched up delivery on middle and off stump line (not too full, though or you'll get bowled). With this shot early in the innings with a good batsman, you can score around 8-10 runs per over (provided there is no long-on fielder).

Mind you, you won't succeed every time, but with aggressive players like Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, you have a great chance of clearing the fence...

Hari,
I didn't play Cricket 2004 a lot so don't know much about the timing... pls let me know about the timing for the shot as I generally spoon it up in the air to be caught by mid on or long on. In fact the only way I can hit a 6 is by using advance shots.

well guys, i have just discover how to play advance shot for six(loft), when ball is about to release from the bowler's hand, dance down the pitch and play with power
button, you will be able to clear fielder in the circle. I have played that shot with
M.Jaywardhane against B.lee, i got four in wide longoff region, try this, and you will get
gud result, with power shots and ground shots.

yes buddy, stand outside the legstumps to play this shot (power shot over extra cover), but u need to have set batsman, atleast 4-5 yellow points in batsman's confident meter. Even playing advance power shots, u need to have set batsman, atleast 2-3yellow points in batsman's confident meter.

Bud, for playing lofted (power) advance down the wicket shots, you don't require any confidence or even a good batsman. You can flog McGrath with a tailender who's new to crease if you get the timing right.

Advance down the wicket shots are all about timing and not much to do with a good batsman or confidence.
