Recommendation: Wireless Router

It really depends how far from the exchange you are. Currently we are too far away (about 3km+) so the linksys modem keeps dropping. Got another one Thompson brand that handles that distance better but slightly slower speeds. Once they do the upgrades apparently we will be very close to it so the linksys modem could actually overload due to the close proximity which has happened a few times according to the technician. Not saying linksys is crap or anything but for us its not working too well.

3km+ ?????

Won't be surprised if you get hacked or something...

Linksys ones sound good as well. Just don't get D-Link, they are like cheap ass ████.
Thanks for the reassurance.

Could you also tell me if it would matter if I have a D-Link modem (I have DSL-302g) and a linksys wireless router? this looks like the best option out there unless I pay extra for a wireless modem/router.

By pretty crap I mean, it always disconnects from online games for some reason. It didn't use to this.
Could you tell me if it is any better to have a wireless Modem Router, or a wireless router. Or is there really no difference?
I'm pretty keen on Netgear so hopefully I can find something suitable. Thanks for the help anyways, I better make up my mind within the next 4 days..:p

Oh, cant you just call in your ISP and ask them to come and replace your modem? Here in the US if the modem is causing us problems, we just call in the ISP and they come, check the modem and replace it free of cost if it has unrectifiable problems.

Usually best to have the route and modem the same brand to avoid problems. It should work in theory but I would google to see if that combo has any problems.

With any brand modem, you have to turn it into a bridge. You put your internet password onto your router. Your router will use the modem to connect to the internet.

Nah, in most cases over here you buy the modem separately, depending on your ISP.

Cheers for all the help guys, I think I'll go with Linksys, they seem to be pretty reliable, unless I can find a suitable Netgear :p
