Retirements in 2008

Pollock I think will go.
Jayasuria basically already has.
Tendulkar I feel might want to go on the back of having had a good year so he would never face the possibility of being dropped if his form slipped again.
Gilchrist might if his body knackered up, although I don't see that happening. Him and the other mid 30s Aussie's will go after the 2009 Ashes I think.

He's our club captan and is playing as well as he's ever done so unless somebody young really performs for us he'll want to stay and work with Leicestershire, England he won't get near anywhere.
He's give up his International career anyway.

Gilchrist is almost a definfite for me because he's very much a team player and would call time if he's blocking another young player's oppurtinity, in this case - Brad Haddin.

He know's hes been blocking Haddin for a few years now. Also Haddin isnt exactly a youngster he is 30 now. Cant see any Aussies retiring before the next Ashes.

Since this was World Cup year therefore most of retirements have happened in this year and next year will be dull in terms of retirements. But here are some probabilities.

Dravid - I dont think hes enjoying cricket and he will retire if his big lull continues in Australia.

Pollock - Unless Greame Smith is fired as captain or he finds 10ks more in his bowling.

Ganguly - If he has good Australia series he might surprise all.

Vaas - He wanst 100 test matches and then OK TATA BYE BYE.

Stuart McGill - I Dont think he will make comeback now ever. Hogg might not set world on fire but is very unorthodox to be left out. Great in field and also handy bat.

Giles - Has he retired or not?

Cant think of any other old guy as player wanna play till 40 these days.

P.S. I dont think any Indian will retire. They will have to be dropped for good from side otherwise we will see same team in 2011 India-Australia series.

Vaas has played 100 tests but I'm not sure he will continue for very long. There are young pacemen who will be looking to get in the side.

MacGill will play again I think. The moment he regains fitness, Australia will have him back into the side since he's to good a bowler to leave out now. I don't see Hogg having a test future unless he makes real impact with the chances he gets.

Yeah im pretty sure Giles 'King of Spain' has retired becuase of his hip and he now wont make it back into england

Dravid is a legend, he should play.

My retirements for 2008 By Country:
Australia:
Stuart MacGill - Soon as possible.
England:
Michael Vaughan - After South African Test Series.
Andrew Flintoff - Ankle is proving too much for him.
India:
Rahul Dravid - I think we are sensing that the end is near for him. He needs to go after this Australian Test Series
New Zealand:
Stephen Fleming - Has he already retired?
Pakistan:
Shoaib Akhtar - He is taking wickets constantly but I am sure his injuries will continue to come. :(
South Africa:
Shaun Pollock - As Scion_Sid said. 10 more kps.
Sri Lanka:
Sanath Jayasuriya - He should just play ODIs and International T20s
West Indies:
Darren Ganga - Many new Test Match openers coming in. (i.e:Brenton Parchment, Lenoll Simmons)

He won't. He won't until Collingwood's captained much more in the ODI's to give him the experience he needs. Flintoff won't retire either, not until he's at least tried to comeback one more time. He's doing rehab right now and he'll have another go at the start of the County Season.

Stuart MacGill - Reckon he will want to play again.
Vaughan - Why?? Hess 33 playing some very good cricket.
Flintoff - Im not sure i think he will take as long as he wants out so and the fact hes only 30
Dravid - I dont know he will abttle for his place in the Indian side.
Fleming - Is still playing Tests not ODI's
Akhtar - Can see him going on for a few more years.
Pollock - I agree, He probably will if after England.
Jaysuriya - Is he still playing ODI's?
Ganga - He wont go he's 28 and will defiantely continue.

Dont mean to be criticising. I think Pollock, I Dont think alot will retire, Aussies still have the Ashes and alot of the other teams have some youngsters and there older players arent really old.
