Rickyp expreses dissapointment with crowds

Soon after drawing the test against the Downright Donkeys, Rickyp made note that he is dissapointed with the popularity of cricksim in general. He said, "I check these forums everyday to see the same people contributing, I will talk to Ste about somehow advertising cricksim better for next season and also making it so contribution towards cricksim forums will result in better averages for that player. Especially after we started so strong, it is sad to see such a quick and painful demise." Although rickyp has no intention of shutting down cricksim until it has recovered, he sees that a shortened season may be in order so that we can restructure next season and get people interested again as soon as possible.

L.Falfa (thanks duff)

Ok well people heres what im putting forward to do, shorten this season so it finishes within a month and get started on formatting the next season. Since ive come back ive noticed a complete drop off in support and contribution. The team threads have become vacant and apart from a few posts every so often from different people, its all the same members.

These are my proposed changes for next season (whether its in a couple of months or at the current proposed time for late this year)

- Make cricksim for graphical i.e team logos, series logos, more advertising over planetcricket and generally make it more appealing.

- Use a good fixture which means that we will constantly be playing games. (im gonna need help on that one as in my opinion it was the major killer in support)

- Appoint new managers for certain teams who arent up for the job (you know who you are)

- vCash benefits for performances i.e man of the match, international selection etc.

I will add more ideas to the list as they come and i see them fit for next season.

Please EVERYONE post your ideas and views, they are all welcome

A fairly arsey feat in itself, I must say.

My new selection policy is loosely based on who posts the most, actually. I've decided that if anyone misses out on a game, they can post in the thread and then they'll be certainties for the next game. Eventually it should iron out who still reads the games and who doesn't, because there's no point in playing people who don't follow how they're going.

Not arguing with that one :)

Rickyp I can help you play the games in cricsim

its not a problem of playing them, its the fixture itself, its so far spread apart that people dont care

And maybe we should only appoint players who are interested and contribute to the discussion on Cricsim. Alot of members who joined up have disregarded the competition altogether. :(

I think the league could certainly be organized better. We could have like Monday/Wednesday/Friday leagues and Tuesday/Thursday leagues, if you know what I mean. You could have two groups and each group played their games only on certain days. I, for one, cannot remember when our game is being played.

Secondly, there are too many people without official positions trying to lead, which in turn is turning the whole competition into a mess. If you are going to be delegating your work, let it be known exactly who can do the delegated work, so that not everyone opens a new thread to ask who should be doing what, which brings me to my third point--the forum is a mess. A little more organization on that front would go a long way in making the game more popular.

There are so many stickies--each with repetitive information. Basically, you gotta streamline the interface and make sure that participants do not have too much to remember. And you also have to keep in mind that the PC forum user databases encompass a huge portion of the globe. Which means timezone differences. You gotta keep all this in mind.

To keep next season efficient, I have one suggestion. You should accept tenders for teams (with an upper limit--say 8 teams). To get official recognition, a team leader will have to submit a team list of at least 11 players, a team logo and other such accessories. Teams can then continue to accept players until the deadline period is reached. At the deadline, if you don't have enough teams, you will have to work with the pseudo managers to merge half completed teams.

Okay, I have more than one suggestion. You will have to agree as to points/trades/etc. before the season begins and to make life easier for yourself--delegate people who are in charge of this. And only one person. You can have a stat man, a trade man, etc. I wouldn't let one person do more than one task, because he will eventually get bored of the work and quit altogether.

Thirdly, if you, as super-manager, expect to go away (for whatever circumstances--doesn't matter to me), let someone be a predesignated auxiliary manager. That way the league won't slow down. And finally, and this is a personal opinion, I just don't like the way the matches are presented. But this is more a function of how the simulator works than how this league is run.

That's all from me. Good luck, and I think you should start next season afresh.

One problem that I have with the program is when you're playing one-dayers. The team that's chasing doesnt even bother to play some times. Say they're chasing 150 they wont even bother and block a lot and have a an over to get 60 something. Is there a way to fix this part as it would make the games more interesting.

thanks for all the contributions everyone

@sohummisra - great post, i learnt a fair bit and im gonna take most if not all of it onboard.
@ cheeze - dont look at me its the sims fault
@ tassietiger - fair idea, i think i might take it on board

Can everyone give me their thoughts on this topic though - should i burn out this season or start a fresh one asap?

Well, I would like to be a part of this and as there seems to be many disinterested people i'm sure there'd be a space for me. I can't really comment on it because I haven't been involved...Would any team accept me now?

Dont burn this one out.

I would say that maybe we should change the fixtures a bit so that every team plays atleast one game a week!

That would give the managers more chances for squad rotation.

I agree that if a player does not post or view the threads for a month (or more), they should be eradicated from Cricsim!

Hard to monitor...

Hi. Here is some suggestion to make CrickSim more interesting.

A)The tournament should be played like real matches. For example we can have series of 3 Tests and 5 ODI between ICC Supersokers and Melbourne bitters.

B)As some members suggested earlier the players should be alloted Vcash/Rep points for their milestones like 5-wicket hauls, man-of-the match, century etc. Also they should be given vcash if they help to win their teams from crunch situations.

C)We should start program on the end of each year to name Plyer Of the year and etc.

D)We should held a World Cup like Event.

E)We should set up a Code Of Cunduct.
