Rubbish at Seaming

Ken,

If you are still playing on an unpatched version let us know anything you notice about bowling in terms of seam, movement and dismissal type. I never played the game unpatched and have no idea. It may help us piece together what changes the patches are currently not making.

I'm patched since last night, using Ravi's patch.

Now that I am patched I've managed some movement off the seam on a green wicket in an England v SA 5 day exhibition match at Lords. Using a straight delivery with the dot all the way to the right I got Caddick to pitch one just outside leg stump to a right hander and it nipped back enough to catch the top of the leg stump i.e. a massive leg cutter.

Next over exactly the same settings from Anderson's first delivery saw the ball move a similar amount in the other direction so I'm at a loss to know whether moving the dot makes any difference at all.

Using either cutter or leg cutter deliveries seems to give me no movement at all.

I have the same problems with leg cutters and off cutters they just never move but I haven;t moved a straight one before. What on earth does this all mean???

Tutsi/Ravi if you have any ideas please let us know.

tigerdes - like many others I saw no movement at all for weeks until - I patched with Ravi's v9 on Friday night - aaaaand at Port of Spain with the Windies at 161 for 9, I bowled a pretty straight full pitch ball just outside off stump with Anderson. White dot at the top of the seam and lo and behold the ball seamed back virtually through the batsman off the inside edge into Read's gloves! Cue Ritchie praising the bowler and Windies all out. First time it has happened but bodes well for the future!

What about spinnng though? That's one thing I can't get by using the ball marker.

For an off spinner, placing the cursor at 3 o'clock results in maximum spin, 9 o'clock for minimum.

Also dependant on speed of delivery - the slower the delivery the more turn likely.

Also depends on how old ball is, pitch type.
