297 runs chasing was always going to be a mammoth task for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. They needed a good start to their innings and skipper Themba Bavuma and his top order batsman didn't disappoint. Bavuma, Hermann and Conway smashed the MI Cape Town bowlers, putting them well ahead of the required run rate. MI Cape Town seamers Afridi and Henry together with Shakib Al Hasan took the fight back to the home team. And so the game draws to a tame conclusion with Sunrisers Eastern Cape claiming an impressive victory by 3 wickets. A solid, if unspectacular performance there by Sunrisers Eastern Cape and they will no doubt want to build on the foundation laid today. The bowlers were probably licking their lips when they saw the pitch today - the pitch was very sporting, to say the least. All of the disciplines benefited greatly throughout the day. These two teams were fairly evenly matched so it was tough to predict the outcome. That being said Sunrisers Eastern Cape proved to be the stronger in the end and snatched victory. Thanks for this wonderful league @RUDI bhai, was excited for SA20 last year. during that league the atmosphere, the vibe, and SA's domestic pool of players made me fall for that league, and the real SEC winning it was the cherry on the cake, bringing the List-A version of it here, it was a super fun experience right from start looking forward to your next one. (hopefully, I'll be active in it)
